Production Character/Alt Advice
« on: January 04, 2009, 10:18:15 AM »
Hopefully Constantine will come along with a better list!

Industry
Production Efficiency
Mass Production
Advanced Mass Production
Supply Chain Management (Can build from a region away then!)

*Racial Starship Engineering
*Racial Encryption Methods

Theres various other skills relating to capital ships and T2 ships too, but I think this is it for now?

Advanced Mass Production
Supply Chain Management (Can build from a region away then!)

*Racial Starship Engineering
*Racial Encryption Methods

Theres various other skills relating to capital ships and T2 ships too, but I think this is it for now?

Industry of at least III (reduces manufacturing time and allows learning of Efficiency) eventually to be trained to V , miners will have it at V anyways as its required for barges.

Production Efficiency  is THE MOST important skill, reduces wastage of minerals, at V its 20% less usage of materials. needs industry III ( if you have it at 3 cut your teeth in the ammo business , loss is small compared to ships where1 point in efficiency can easily be a few Million ISK)

Mass Production/ Advanced Mass Production, both increase number of Manufacturing jobs you can run, Advanced at 20M for the book means make sure you need it (ie will have 6+ jobs running at all times to make it worthwhile)

Supply Chain Management (needs Mass Production IV)-  you can manage without this skill having it just makes things easier, the more levels you learn the further away from your manufacturing base you can start jobs Level I same system, every level after is +5 Jumps until at V full regional coverage.

As Mang says there are many other skills needed for Manufacturing.

Ships do indeed need the starship engineering skills and encryption skills, those need dedicated Learning plans so only go down that route if a) your doing research as well, b) exploration is your thing (exploration works well as a crossover for research/ manufacturing types) or c) you want to build those nice ships ;)

Rigs need the skills required for using them to build them (doesnt make sense to me but that is what we have to play with) so JUry Rigging III and then the necessary rigging skills.

T2 manufacturing could take a while so ill simplify, lots of Science skills at level III (at 7-10M a book a severe money and time sink (just look at Constantines Wallet to see, and ive not finished yet), good thing is that this also means you can farm those R&D agenst as part of the training plan for datacores, also means you will be a dab hand at invention.

However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

I was thinking about creating a manufacturing alt. This would take some of the preasure off Cons, as this alt could do the ammo production.
Taking another look at EveMon though it seems almost as fast to let Saf do the training, industry 3, MP 3 and PE 3 isnt too long a training.
Wont happen this week, but will squeeze some training in now and then.

I'll prolly switch this to Aicha, after she finishes astrogeology 5, in 9 days
I hope to be able to buy an extra month for her by then.

Well, she should have around 100M in the bank and 500k m3 of ore to sell....
With a bit of work she may be able to pay for another month herself. ;)

You can get them for 300 but their value is generally tied to half the cost of a 60d GTC - which can fluctuate widly between 550 and 700 depending on supply/demand.
The first week of the month is generally a good time to get them.

Ok folks heres the issue.

My third alt ive have planned as a haulage character that can also be a secondry miner. Im only going to train him upto a retriever at this stage though rather than go all the way through to hulk. (chalc will be my hulk character)
When i hit retrievers in about 6 days with him i then want to diversify into research / production.
What do i need to train initially in order to make him a proficient researcher/copier/production character.
Ive perused all the different sites and the lists are to say the least varied.
I trust and value the opinions of those i know more than those on the various EVE boards hence im posting this here before i start down a long track of training that turns out wrong.  :-\

I think manufacture is most needed atm, as most research slots are filled most of the time.
For a list of skills needed for that, look here: http://handsofjustice.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=570.0
If you do want to go researching (notice i said 'most' 2 times, so there are always spots open, we just need manufacture more atm afaik), look here: http://handsofjustice.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=487.0. This thread gives a description on research for a new char, but you should be able to extract what skills you need for research anyway.

for basic production you need Industry, Production efficiency, and Mass production the most important being Efficiency (less wastage).

For basic research you need Science, Metallurgy, Research, Laboratory Operations, and Scientific Networking.

Then when you get further down the line in either job, you evenyually need rigging skills and the specialised sciences. (but we can give better advice when thats required) ;)

hope this helps.

Ta,

I'd read the posts on our forums and they gave me the basis i just wondered if there was anything else i needed to know. Having read the replys i've cut the research stuff out of my list and just concentrated on production.  Including the stuff he's doing for his mining at present Machaul now has a total of 112 days of pre-planned training lined up  :o I dare say there will be a few days offshoots here and there when i discover something else that i need NOW and can't wait  ::) so ill estimate he'll get to the end of this training cycle in about 135 days  :P

Hi guys,

Those of you going the production route for your char or alt - Capital Ship Construction would be handy to lvl 3 to get a little more coverage for Fighters, Carriers and above.
It's a skill covered by the Corp Capital Programme and requires Industry V, Production Efficiecy V and Mechanic V - contact Constantine if it's something you're aiming for for him to track and allocate.

Is there currently a need for more production alts? If so, I guess I could roll one too (and then try to figure out what the heck I am supposed to do :P ).

Elminda got Industry, Efficiency and Mechanic at V. Would just need the skillbook for Capital Ship Construction to train it.

i shall buy one for you (using corp funds :)  ) or buy it yourself if you can access the wallet (or get someone who can  do it)
