Tome Tactics
« on: October 16, 2008, 09:48:22 AM »
Been looking at the tome tactics (http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.3.20#spells:50+6) and noticed they only apply to monsters, not players. This means they are only useful in PVE. Aaaand of course in getting keeps. So greenskin, chaos and darkelf tactics would be worth the most.
The others are just nice because they're shineeeeyyy       ;D
'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

I hadn't actually considered that these will be useful during keep sieges, so I'd dismissed this lot as useless - but yeah you've a very good point there.

All I can see are tactics for "Dwarf, Elf and Human" and tactics for "Greenskin". Please tell me I'm missing something?

EDIT : In addition, I would expect the "killing xxxxx doubles your AP regen rate" type tactics to be useless for a healer - any clue whether they proc on a group/proximity kill, or if you need to gank the killing blow? I would strongly suspect the latter.

Hmm, good point there. Maybe chaos and dark elf just part of 'dwarf, elf, human'?

As for the kill-tactic: maybe a third option: be the first it will aggro on. That's how i think it works in quests anyway.

It would seem a little imbalanced that destruction players only have to slot the one tactic which gives them all three of our races whereas we appear to be only able to slot greenskins :/ sigh.

If I think about it in game, I'll write an appeal asking about this.
'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

I don't think they work in keep sieges.

I have the -50% aggro range on greenskins slotted (hey, it's pretty useless but the only tome tactic I have) and I noticed that the orcs defending the keep we were attacking the other day aggroed on me from a huge range, far larger than normal mobs do.

All chaos characters you can choose are human, all dark elves are elves - the differences are philosophical not genetical (well, before any eventual mutations, that is :D).

I guess Mythic could have implemented it differently, but why would they want to?

Yeah, prolly considered NPCs, not monsters.

Hmm, remembered my appeal and checked my mail. Not much of an answer (rather lame actually), but because they choose the word NPC, I guess it doesnt apply because they arent considered monsters indeed.

Dear Customer,

Thank you very much for your appeal. Unfortunately we were unable to contact you ingame regarding your appeal.
The NPC's around keeps do have abilities however I am unable to give you any detailed information on this.

For any further queries don't hesitate to contact us via the ingame Ticket system.

Thank you for playing War.

Kind Regards,

Your Appeal:
I was wondering about the Tome of Knowledge tactics. For example: do the greenskin tactics also apply to greenskins in/around a keep, or are they considered NPCs?
If it does apply to those too, are there also tactics for dark elves/chaos?

[edit]sod it, read it again and they understood the question wrong it seems. think they thought i asked about the skills of the monsters, not the tome of tactics skills. I will leave it to a native speaker to ask the question again then...  :-\
But prolly earlier conclusion is right.[/edit]

Unlocked the Skaven tactic tonight - full info on wardb or the Beastiery addin.

Essentially 3 skavens in a house on a street near market (can't remember the location off the top of my head - ask me in-game).
There's a woman outside saying that beasties have taken over her house.

Then in the sewers (2nd stage) a lvl 19 champ with 3 bodyguards to kill.

Goto the lib on the first floor and buy the tactic.

You get a symbol in your TOK with a Red Sword when you have it - and a message when it's unlocked.
