Future direction for MAADI
« on: January 02, 2011, 12:52:23 PM »
Well, as the title says :)

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when 6 people and not alts were online at once in corp :)
So this got me thinking a bit, well i've been thinking about it a while really.

I dont know if it's possible or anything like that but would activity be higher if we had access to real 0.0 space? With real access to pew pew etc.

Would the members be interested in it?? (again...)

edit:
To make it a bit more concrete I've seen alliances (small ones) who rent probably from initiative but the one I'd like most which doesn't advertise is initiative mercenaries, in theory I think they would be perfect for us but in all likelihood we are too small for them.
Init mercs are not renters for init but a way for init to boost their numbers etc in pvp which is the main focus.

No thoughts anyone?

Im sure those who have read it are mulling it over - I know I am.

Its a thing to think on, especially after germans and wherever Sin thinks the alliance lives this week.

Well, as long as there is something going on as a corp, I should be there. Bought one month more, hoping to see something happens :)

My previous two attempts failed miserably to get anything going, so I think my ideas are not that hot ;)

Try as you said Hrod - sound out the BC command folks, since last weeks idea is probably old to them now, im sure a new idea will be good ;)

If they dont take then maybe look it for MAADI alone...

Well, would you like going into 0.0 space? (Same question goes for everyone really)
If so, what kind of activities would you like to do (focus on industry, mining, pvp, other?)
Or, if not, would you like to get other coop activities going? And what? PVE, mining, casual PVP?

etc.

I already talked this over with Hrod in detail at the time of OP, so didnt post anything. Also to give others the chance to come with their own ideas.

Well I can only talk for myself.
While the pve in 0.0 is better (more profitable) its still eve pve.
Best eve pve so far is wormholes which you can do there as well... without living in them.
However not even that is really a challenge.

The best experience I've had in eve was the few really large fleet fights we had in fountain and I'd love to get more of that. While the wait was dull as hell it was fun when the action came :)

Like I said already, *anything* we do together would be cool. Be it corp mining operations in high-sec, if that is what people want. However, if  we would have PvP roams then I would be there drooling, be they only hunting roams with corp members, or joining a mega alliance at war in 0.0, or anything between them.

Quite honestly in my opinion, the PvE in EVE is not that hot compared with most other MMOs. Sure, the PvE stuff is needed for a steady income, although I might now just as well buy plexes and sell them for ISK to avoid the EVE PvE :p Still, if the corp wants PvE, then lets do that. I play MMOs for the social aspect (to get things done together with others gives me more kicks than getting something done alone), and who knows, maybe there would be some random PvP happening during PvE roams :)

EDIT: Yay, 1000th post here :D

Well I have high hopes for Incursion bringing more of a challenge in PvE (while hoping we can get enough ppl together to do at least the 'easiest' one). PvP will prolly be something we cannot do as MAADI alone, because we are just with too little (active) ppl - so we are prolly dependent on others. (Or we should come up with successful tactics for 2-4 ppl)

I just saw Initiative Mercenaries listed as being involved with IT alliance trying to take PNQY-Y from Goonswarm.  This sound like it would be fun to get into.
Initiative Mercenaries (IM) is less of a recruitment camp for the main alliance (which has a corp ceiling cap), more its a programme we put together to provide opportunities for smaller/developing PVP corps who wanted access to 0.0 with an ability to do so and develop without having a huge barrier to entry which most larger 0.0 entities present. This is really a reflection of the difficulties that many small corps face when trying to make the move to 0.0. They are either too small, cannot offer the typical capital entry fee criteria and have no proven track record and so on.

We place no expectations on the members of IM other than they be PVP oriented and they participate with us on campaigns with reasonable turnout. In return they get access to some space rent-free and can develop in their own way. If they choose to stick with us, that's fine, but if they want to use IM as a stepping stone to their own future or go off and do other stuff that's fine also. It's our way of giving back to the community to help the smaller corps and meet new people along the way.

Initiative Associates (IA) is our renter construct as jammin already pointed out.
(remember we are highly unlikely to be allowed to join but I thought I'd post what made me interested in IM and I think it's fairly selfevident why I think they are good fit for us) and mang sent you a pm here ;)

Well tbh it sounds perfect (too perfect??). Esp the part about small corps. -> Makes me wonder why do you doubt they'd let us in?
