EVE Online
EVE Online: Causality Trailer
The best (in my opinion) trailer to date for this amazing game, was released at PAX this weekend.
It does a great job of showing how 1 man can affect show much, just because he got ganked and wanted to get “even”. Watch it, then trial the game with us!!
850 Billion ISK Scam ($50,000 in Real Money)
So, long story short.
Theres been a long running Market IPO centred around buying Titan Blueprint Originals and selling copies to joe public. For years it paid out the investors (I never invested go go me!), until this week. When the person behind it ran of with the isk from it and some other smaller side projects.

Quite the haul, and one of the largest, if not THE largest in the games history.
Hulkageddon III.
Its that time of year again. Helicity Boson has organised another Hulkageddon. This is the third one in as many years. Hulkageddon is a time when sensible miners hide, while pvpers roam the space lanes looking for other more unfortunate mining vessels to explode and their pilots to pod.
Check out Helicity’s site here.
Ma’adim Logistics will NOT be taking part due to overriding alliance policies – which Mangala Solaris already broke by doing this – relating to ganking in high security space. However, I am positive many of our pilots will take part with un-corped alts and help create miner tears across the universe. Will we match Baroness Thatcher for miner tears? Or will they finally fight back?
Irregardless of the outcome, space is going to even more fun in the coming weeks!
EVE Online: Tyrannis Expansion
The latest EVE Online expansion has just been released. Here is the trailer for it:
Features include Planetary Interaction, EVEGate and numerous fixes and improvements to the game, as well as the usual amount of broken things – its CCP’s trademark.
MAADI Joins Beyond-Control
Ma’adim Logistics has recently joined a brand new alliance in EVE. Getting in on the ground floor of such an enterprise is something we wanted for a long time, and we look forward to the challenges this will offer us going forward!!
Fanfest Videos
So Fanfest is over and done for another year. 3 Video’s that show off this year are here:

Discuss Dominion here & Dust here on the forums. My fanfest pictures will be up in our gallery this week!
CCP Unveil DUST 514
CCP’s Hilmar recently gave the Keynote speech at GDC in Leipzig, and as a part of this he unveiled DUST 514, an MMP-FPS set in the EVE Universe that will tie in to the bitter struggles for sovereignty that happen on a daily basis there! Talk about this on our forums here and read the article here.
Imagine..
… there’s no Kenny:
This is a video related to the story I have previously posted about the fall of the Band of Brothers alliance due to a pissed off and bored director. Basically, Kenzoku (The successor alliance to BoB), is about to lose its final few systems, effectively ending its – and Sir Molle’s – reign as one of the most powerful entities in New Eden, and this song was created as a result.
[EVE Online] Ebank Director Runs off with 200Billion Isk
Yet another reason as to why I love EVE so damn much!
I’ll cut right to the chase;
Ricdic, Ricdics and EBANK Ricdic characters have been banned by CCP. We are in the process of emailing our customers with this information for those who have emails in our database. We’re switching over to another deposit character and I’ll confirm that when it’s finished. You may have also noticed we are still handling withdraws….we intend to keep doing so.
Yesterday was a busy day. Here’s what we know for certain…Ricdic has scammed and engaged in RMT. He stole roughly 200 Billion of our 2.3 Trillion in deposits (8.6%). We are in the process of getting a new deposit character in place and hope to have this completed by tonight. He might have gotten away with more but Amarr Citizen 155 and Athre were able to prevent that. Please give them your thanks; I know I do.
Short term strategy; EBANK is processing withdraws and shrinking…we expect this will happen organically but if we need to nudge it along we will.
Long term strategy; still under debate. We have a few options on the table and are debating the best way forward from here. If we need to raise additional capital (which we don’t believe we have to do right now) then we have a few options we’ll pursue.
Bottom line;
-EBANK Ricdic has been banned
-EBANK Ricdic is no longer the deposit character for EBANK
-EBANK Athre is the Interm CEO
-EBANK is processing withdraws
-EBANK is solvent and will take additional steps if capital infusions are required
-EBANK will post again on long term strategy once we finalize it
I hope that addresses some of the concerns and I also hope to post more later and provide updates. I appreciate the support some of our customers have expressed.
Read more in the EVEO Thread. Suffice to say, the guy deserves any punishment he recieves from CCP for the RMT, but not for the scam itself, so artully was it done over the years he has obviously be planning this!
EVE Online is 6!!!
EVE Online celebrates its 6th year of existence today–May 6th.
A 6 year persistant history. A living history where truly brilliant strategies have unfolded. Truly terrible betrayals unveiled. We are excited to see what will happen next.
This year has been very successful for EVE Online, thanks in large part to the Apocrypha expansion and a return to retail. We started out the year with around 244,000 subscribers and in five short months we’ve had a 22% growth in subscribers. In the past couple days we surpassed the impressive milestone of 300,000 active subscribers.
We’ve broken our peak concurrent user record 3 times this year alone, standing now at an impressive 53,850 in the same universe. That is exponential growth. We couldn’t think of a better birthday present than having more people playing EVE Online than ever before. It is another sweet reminder of EVE’s boundless potential.
As always, we encourage you to bring your friends, family and even enemies to New Eden. Cheers to that.
MAADI To Build Capital Ships
The community’s space-faring arm is currently working towards being able to assemble and successfully market its first Chimera, a Caldari Carrier.
More will be said once a few things are up and running, but this is quite the milestone for a corp that started out as a home away from home for Mangala Solaris and his alt character collection.

MAADI Joins Event Horizon
Ma’adim Logistics today became the newest corporation to join the Event Horizon alliance based in the Fountain region.
This next step in our evolution in Eve-Online is one that will see us learn to defend space and work as part of a larger team for a common goal.
Apocrypha Release Day!
Patch will be applied today! Follow the new here:

BBC covers EVE Online & The “BoB” situation
Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7905924.stm
It’s a credit crunch nightmare.
The chief executive of the world’s biggest corporation gets a phone call in the middle of the night. Thanks to industrial espionage, the company has been bankrupted, assets stripped, bank accounts emptied. When trading starts the next day, even the company name will be gone.
If this were real life, the executive might consider jumping out the window. But in the online game of EVE Online, it’s all part of the fun.
“It is another challenge,” said Par Molen, the leader of the “corporation” Band of Brothers (BoB), who got the late-night call.
“That’s what we live for.”
Mr Molen and his online colleagues had spent four years building BoB into the dominant force in a game where 200,000 players battle it out in an online galaxy of spaceships and planets.
Unlike other multiplayer online games like the hugely popular World of Warcraft, which is split into smaller groups, the thousands of EVE players are in it together.
In one virtual galaxy, players build, fight, and trade, joining together to form “corporations” to gain control over sections of the huge starscape.
This creates a complex society where anything can happen, and often does. Rules are few, and all of the lying, cheating and stealing that occurs in real life can also happen in the game.
A player called “The Mittani” is the shadowy spymaster who runs dozens of agents for his corporation – GoonSwarm. He got the call of his career when a disgruntled BoB director contacted him to say that he was thinking of switching sides.
With the director’s access to BoB’s internal workings, the pair were able to disband the corporation and steal all the assets they could lay their hands on.
To add insult to injury, GoonSwarm then re-registered the Band of Brothers name for itself, leaving the former alliance nameless and broken.
It’s a finale that has been compared to “Apple dissolving Microsoft”, and led to some players calling for the game’s developer, CCP, to “roll-back” the game to the previous day and cancel the change.
“Any one director should not have the power to destroy the work of so many people for so many months and years with two mouse clicks,” wrote a player called David on an EVE-related blog.
But CCP is well-known for keeping its hands off action within the game. Since no rules were broken, the changes stood, and thousands of BoB members woke up to a very different world.
Scams in space
This is not the first time that rogue bankers and credit fraud have made EVE Online seem more like the financial pages than a space cowboy video game.
In January, a player absconded with over 80bn ISK, the game’s virtual currency, from an in-game bank. Although the 80bn is only worth a few thousand pounds if exchanged for real money, it represents hours of in-game toil.
In an online echo of the real-world banking crisis, the bank’s chairman issued a statement to calm a run on deposits, writing: “Dynasty Banking will get over these times and we will continue to strive to earn the public’s faith as one of the leading banks of Eve Online”.
Another scam on an epic scale beyond the fantasies of real conmen was perpetrated in 2006, when a player ran off with 700bn ISK from another EVE bank.
“Think of me as a space Robin Hood—steals from the rich and gives to himself,” wrote the perpetrator in an EVE-related internet forum.
Such swindles left some players in awe of EVE’s potential for realism, whilst others called for a stronger code of ethics in the game.
But spymaster Mittani scoffed at calls for in-game morals, noting that without dirty tricks, GoonSwarm would have had no chance of toppling a more established corporation like BoB.
He wrote: “We don’t have any advantages, so we can’t obey your stupid ‘space bushido’. We’re going to spy, we’re going to use defectors, we’re going to lie, cheat, steal and be bastards.”
========================
Very well written article, impresses me as the journalist seems to have done her homework – very unlike a beeb tech reporter (they all like World of Warcraft).
Tier 3 Ships
These ships have finally been seeded on SiSi – the test server – and they are amazing. I have set up several different combinations and currently found a great 6 high, 7 mid and 2 low slot combination, with a good grid and excellent cpu for all my needs. It just uses missiles
Discuss the expansion over on our forums!
MAADI – Our first PVP roaming night.
Last night 8 of us formed up and travelled to Genesis to visit the EVE Gate and find a fight or two hopefully.
The journey through low-sec was very quiet and we spent some time in the New Eden and Dead End systems without being bothered by any one :-X We kept together moving as a unit and people listended to the FC alot.
On our return journey towards hisec, I jumped through a gate and lo and behold there was a flashy red guy there in a Phobos accompanied by a non flashy Dominix, immediately I called the rest of the gang through into the system and we uncloaked from the gate-jump and I called the Phobos as primary target. Points went on him as did ECM and we began working him down. Then the Dominix joined in and started cap draining people and setting drones loose, so he was jammed also. By this stage the Phobos was in half armor and was actually managing to out rep our damage (I failed a touch and split the damage that was available to the Domi too), Noj was close to going down so I warped us off the field however not before we lost Hrod.
For our first pvp engagament it was great, the group did well – kills would have been yummy of course – and I learned not to split targets and to keep my cool.
We continued on back to hisec and metup with Hrod who had fit a fresh ship by this time. Then we headed off to Mista, the final hisec system before a lowsec entry pipline into Providence!
We took an age to get there, but a few of us did and we then jumped into the lowsec pipe and headed down to Misaba & R3-. While in Misaba we lost Mac – we had a safe scanned down while I was off making another safe and he didnt get out in time Sad The few of us left then moved on through R3- and ended up in X-R. I continued creating safe’s and warping us about until we had a thought to roam that systems belts looking for a provi local or two. We had an inkling a large group – 15 or so – was following us, but we didnt care we wanted to see blood! In the last belt we found one of the guys that had done for Mac, so we tackled his Deimos and gave it a go. However not to be as both an Arazu and a Pilgrim warped in and supported him (we had him moving rapidly towards structure), while slaughtering us.
The chap we jumped convoed me after we were in pods (warped out to a safe obviously) and expressed his pleasure at a good fight, told us he was surprised we managed to evade the searchers for so long (about 30minutes) and queried why we chose Providence, we then said out farewells and goodfight’s in local ![]()
Then we died horribly as we jumped our pods into a bubble camp (took their time!) in R3- on the X-R gate.
So all in all a good night, lots of lessons learned (mid-safe refresher, target calling and so on) and a thirst to actually kill stuff awakened in us all I think![/quote]
Seriously if you read this and still are undecided on EVE, then come over anyways and join in the fun we have found for ourselves!!!
