Nerf Failure Cascade?
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:26:36 AM »
Kano left for Spartans today.  Same corp JDizzler went to a few weeks ago.  Seems to me all the active Nerf members that I am used to seeing online are all jumping ship.  I am pretty much apathetic, but I don't see BC surviving this unless Maadi takes over the leading role.  And I don't see that happening.   Alliance leadership (those outside maadi) have really not done anything in months.  Aside from getting butt hurt over a JF gank.  Anyone else getting that sinking feeling?  I don't anticipate it affecting us too much unless we all get super bored.

I've had that feeling for a long time yes. Basically since the end of the war. (having noone join planned alliance roams makes me as a FC a sad puppy and made me fairly sick of trying to organize them)

Me, Mangs and Saf discussed some things which affects us from this. Main thing is that at the moment we are too small to really matter. Size is a important factor in eve.
Nerf was/is, bigger than us and was a lot more active recruiting (without any standards though). While none of us want to be huge I think we agreed on that we need to grow to somewhere around 30 pilots (which means perhaps 100 according to dotlan ;) ). This to give us enough people in corp to be independant. Quite simply it gives us enough volume to make roaming and fleets more fun.

well it's official-ish

Quote from: racnim sinedia
NERF dies and will resurrect!

but differently...

Yes, you read it right... NERF is dead!
I declared it dead a few days ago in our command section and yesterday I made the announcement official in the corp. The New Eden Recon Force is no more!

A fair amount of our core group has left us to become NC pets. Funny thing is they left us to do exactly what we asked them to do... but with us they didn't do it... However, whatever may have happened and is the reason... the fact is there that I lost almost 80% of my core group of pilots and that has efficiently killed the corp.

In response to this I had no other choice than to declare the corp for dead and to let a new corp resurrect from its ashes (I know others would prefer the term reorganization, but I feel there is a need for dramatics here... it explains our situation better).

Our new corporation will become a much smaller corporation (we are already down to 60 and I expect to lose more) and will become a dedicated Wormhole Corp.

The decision is based on several reasons... most important of all might just be the fact that that is what I needed... to leave my responsibilities behind a bit and to enjoy the game again... these last few months gave me a lot of pressure and most of it a bad pressure... Pulling a dead horse would be an expression that comes to mind... We wanted to achieve something, but there was no way we seemed to get it done and we got a mental blow after a mental blow... I know several of you guys must have felt the same...

But it has other reasons too... it is important for the corp to create and to maintain our core group. Together in a wormhole we are forced to intensify our cooperation together... to play together and to have fun together... this will be good for our corp.

It also has several goals specific to a wormhole corp... which surprisingly (not really) are quite in line with the goals you must reach to grow towards sovereignty. It is a much slower growth off course than to grow towards sovereignty directly, but it still is...

and it is a new and cool challenge to me and my fellow directors and our pilots... We are quite enthusiastic about this decision and we have already started setting things in motion here... a new wind already blows through the corp and I already know this was a good decision!

It has an impact to the alliance though... this effectively means we as alliance also lost a large core group of players... we will just have to keep going with the flow of the summer recess and see where we stand after the summer... but this is a very important change for NERF and for BC... so I had to inform you all.

This is still alliance command only officially, so please do not talk about this in game - even though NERF-corp is informed, officially you don't know this yet.
Feel free to discuss it's implications here though.

Means we have 2 "dedicated" wh corps and us in the alliance (and 4tune whatever they are)...

How WH ops is on the route to sov holding is really a bit odd of a statement.

The main implication is that if WE! want pew pew we need to be able to have enough people to make it fun "in house" so to speak.
We can't hope on having the odd straggler joining us for pvp.

Another implication is that pos defense will be much much harder for us, regardless of where the pos is located.

All this points to one thing (for me at least) the need for us to grow.
