so I am hoping you guys can help me out, my hard disk says i am using 56GB out of 100gb on my laptop but i have moved all media and anything of any note on to external harddrives, and I have no idea where the space is being used, does anyone know how i can find out where my disk space is being used,are there any disk spce analyser software tools, that anyone can recommend?

check your windows folder... bet it's huge...
this is windows showing it is taking more space than it actually does (winsxs folder mostly)
im too noob to know how it actually works, but it has something to do with that

Not sure of any tools for this, but certainly check each folder left on your drive for size.

Also run all the basic builtin windows tools, like defrags and disk cleanup.  Wouldnt surprise me if alot of its tmp folder stuff too.

Also certain games and stuff dont install in program files - some install in personal nearly hidden folders (like the appdata area on xp machines) which while they do uninstall ok still seem to leave alot of shit behind.
