Low Skilled, Low Cost, Cruiser/Frigate Fits (PVP)
« on: November 27, 2008, 05:10:10 PM »
Why the hell not I thought to myself. These fits are in the main cheap, suitable for lower skilled players - at most a weeks worth of extra training of a variety of skills will get you into these fits :)

[Rifter, lowsec low SP]
Small Armor Repairer I
200mm Reinforced Crystalline Carbonide Plates I
Basic Damage Control

1MN MicroWarpdrive I
X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Fleeting Progressive Warp Scrambler I

150mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, EMP S
150mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, EMP S
150mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, EMP S
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket

(Edit: oh lol IFFA is 8 mio. nevermind then ^^)

needs engineering 4 but lives with AWU0/WU3/electronics3, depending on liking variations for engineering 3 are:
- AB instead of MWD
- drop the launcher

Don't think you want to drop any of the lows. Mods are 2nd best named and not that expensive. Or do you want vanilla t1?

[Kestrel, mse of doom]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Power Diagnostic System I

Medium Supplemental Barrier Emitter I
X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Warp Disruptor I

'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket

- needs energy management 4 because of the mapc
- still 4-5mins cap with crappy cap/prop-jamming skills
- if you can do that, even tho it's uncaldari to have mwd what about:

[Merlin, ooh look]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Micro B66 Core Augmentation

1MN MicroWarpdrive I
X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Fleeting Progressive Warp Scrambler I
Medium Supplemental Barrier Emitter I

Modal Light Ion Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge S

'Limos' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Gremlin Rocket

Personally I'd lose the MWD and replace it with an AB now, less chance of being totally fucked in PVP by a web/scram combo since the recent changes :D

Punisher may go with web/scram for anti-frig pvp or mwd like this:

[Punisher, New Setup 1]
Small Armor Repairer I
Basic Damage Control
200mm Reinforced Crystalline Carbonide Plates I
Overdrive Injector System I

1MN MicroWarpdrive I
Warp Scrambler I

Dual Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
Dual Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
Dual Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
[empty high slot]

[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]

or drop mwd, upgrade weapons and go web/scram:

[Punisher, New Setup 1]
Small Armor Repairer I
Basic Damage Control
200mm Reinforced Crystalline Carbonide Plates I
Overdrive Injector System II

X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Warp Scrambler I

Medium Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
Medium Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
Medium Modal Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency S
[empty high slot]

Latter option is soo better since QR expansion hit a few weeks back :)

The following are grabbed from another board and are a month or two dated, but the basic idea's presented for fits dont change much:

Quote
rupture
4x 180mm 2x rocket
mwd, web, 20km
1600mm plate, 2x eanm, dcu, gyro

thorax
5x electron
mwd, web, 20km
3x mfs, dcu, mar

vexor
4x light neutron blaster , 1x small nos/neut
mwd, web, 20km
1600mm, 2x eanm, dcu

omen
5x FMP
mwd, 20km, lse
3x hs, copro, dc

maller
5x medium beam laser
ab, web, 20km
2x 1600mm plate, 2x eanm, dcu, SAR

caracal
5x assault launcher
mwd, 2x lse, invuln, 20km
damage control, bcu
OR:
5x HML
mwd, 3x rsd, 20km
dcu, istab/nano

blackbird
3x hml , miner I
1 of each racial, 2 multispecs
2x sda, or 1 sda 1 cpr

arbitrator
2x small neut 2x small nos OR 2x 200mm ac, 1x rocket launcher, 1x neut
mwd, web, 20km, td
1600mm, 2x eanm, dcu

Most of the fittings have obvious uses.
The maller is great bait, and a decent tackler if you know that you're tackling something big, because it has the survivability it needs to last until the gang gets there.
The omen and thorax will be ganky ships, with very weak tanks
Assault Caracal can kill haulers on gates and has a good enough tank to be decent bait, as well as being great versus frigates.
Blackbird + dampcaracal are basically just gang support, you might want to change the point on the caracal for a tracking disruptor, just so you can get as much EW going as possible.

Vexor, Rupture and Arbitrator here function in pretty much every role, being decently quick and having good damage / tank. These are the solo ships, but they're also quite good in gangs.

tip: dont read this after drinking alcohol...

blows your mind.

will try reading again tomorrow...  :-\
'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

And I thought I need a bottle of vodka before trying to read it again. Blew my mind trying to comprehend it while being sober :P

I *think* I am finally starting to understand Beo's OP...

Beo, what is the reason none of your examples have hybrid turrets? I have been in the belief they are considered pretty decent, but apparently you don't agree with that :)  Could you please tell what is the negative thing about them?

EDIT: Also, do you have any suggestions for improving shields cost effectively, as well as targeting range?

Mainly no Rails as they were all ideal close up setups, since speed nerf, blasters have fallen in love a little, with rails even replacing them up close on smaller boats.

May be time to revisit my smaller ship fits and test rails on them rather than blasters.  (Also the list lacks a few of the other small frigates, I have setups for them one of my rigs, I'll dig them out shortly).

=======

Long Range Targeting skill for targetting range (and a Sensor Booster or two with Optimal Range scripts) can all help range.

I'll get back to you on shield stuff shortly also (in the middle of dinner prep).

This seems a fitting thread, so a Threadius Necromancicus!

Found this fit in Battle clinic for a Caracal. Would it be of any use for tonights venture to the low-sec/0.0 ?

[Caracal, L2 caracal fast standing (Tech1)]
Ballistic Control System I
Ballistic Control System I

Invulnerability Field I
Photon Scattering Field I
Large Shield Extender I

10MN Afterburner I

Compact 'Limos' Assault Missile Bay I
Compact 'Limos' Assault Missile Bay I
Compact 'Limos' Assault Missile Bay I
Compact 'Limos' Assault Missile Bay I
Compact 'Limos' Assault Missile Bay I

Hornet I

It would be cap-stable for Swuul without the AB or if one of the other modules is not active, else the cap holds a bit over 4 minutes.

EDIT: Ah... Could this be moved to the correct thread please :)
