EVEmon, character bazaar and meaning of life

Right. So I got last week this cunning plan. I'd send myself an extended trial, upgrade that to an account, thus get 51 days of gaming time. I had heard many good things of the new (ie which were introduced last spring) tuturials (which I've never done), I thought to make a gallente toon to practise with drones a bit (as I was/am confused with all things related with drones), train up all learning skills to level 4 and hit skills skills to fly a Dominix (I chose this build from Battleclinic as my goal), and then sell it over the Bazaar at the official forums before game time runs out.

Now for the questions. Is there any way to figure out from EVEMon how many skill points I'll have at the end of training (which will be accordinf to EVEMon on day 47 of the existence of the toon)? Looking at the toons at sale on the Bazaar, there doesn't seem to be any ~2 month old toons on sale, so maybe I should cough up one more month of play time and train up some more skills? My plan was not to get rich on this (as the primary thing I wanted was to see the new tutorials and to learn to use drones), but at least half a billion ISK would have been nice for the effort



The sad point is that I am actually liking the toon, more and more. Last night when I went to bed, I caught myself from thinking "I won't sell him, it will be nice flying missions while triple-boxing"... I must remain stern!

If you open the plan you can select columns (top right hand corner of the window) and pick estimated SP total.

And yes tripleboxing missions might be a bit overkill for mining it can be good though  2 hulks and one hauler.

Ok, my dream of half a billion ISK for the trouble is maybe not that far shot then. Will have ~2.6 million SP at the end of the training, and perhaps all those learning skills at 4 would see somebody buy him   Slightly worse than selling PLEXes compared to real money, but I get the experience with drones too

Next project... Hmm... A dedicated PvP pilot in faction warfare perhaps? Would perhaps give me some proper experience in PvP too...

Good idea - a half billion or so for a starter character could be a good thing to sell.  I'd check the various threads on the Bazaar for characters similar to what you are training up to see what they sold for etc (take into account that you still need to pay 20euros to tfr the character, so anything under a half bill for a couple of million SP isnt worth the trade off).

As for a dedicated FW pilot. Thats a good idea, especially as theres some nifty stuff to be had from FW lp stores.  If you just want to get some fun cheap pvp experience, an alt in Red Versus Blue could work out better, just depends on what you want really.

Yes, and the 5 euros for activating the account (actually it is 19 euros, but as 14 euros go effectively to pay one month for Swuul, it is no net loss). With PLEXEs going for a bit under 300 million (current prices seem to be a bit over 270 million) and they cost 14 euros in real money, it is easy to say 1 euro is worth ~20 million ISK. Thus an "investment" of 25 euros should pay off 500 million ISK to break even. Then there is the ISK spent for skills etc, so 520 million ISK or so would break it even (but that doesn't take into account the experience I get from drones). All in all, half a billion would be nice, and it is a nice toon for somebody to build up on.

Thought I'd get some of the LP stuff while also familiarising with the whole FW concept, and get PvP experience when time permits. Need to come up with something that would be interesting for a potential buyer. I think the learning skills have to be at 4 no matter what to get any interest in the sold toon, but beyond that something would have to be thought up (for the Gallente toon I thought the ability to fly a Dominix would be the catch) while also being ok toon to check out the thing (like for my drone testing, getting into drone cruisers is what makes it interesting for me).

I got 550 million for the Domi pilot, so I am happy   Got experience with drones flying a Vexor for some missions, and got some ISK for the trouble too   Not by any means a way to get rich, but IMO pretty good for basically an experiment in new (for me) tactics

Yes, got from the missions (and selling the ships and extra skill books recieved from the noob missions) enough to cover for skill-books (and that one stat-implant (which ever it was again) which is not recieved from the noob missions), and a bit of change too. The Vexor I sold for exactly same price I bought it with, so the 550 million is "pure" profit. Of course there is the transfer fee of 20 euros, the 19 euros of registering the account but of which 14 euros would have gone to Swuuls monthly fee. In effect, 35 euros transfeered to 550 million isk, which is *slightly* more than I would have got with PLEXes (isn't the going rate for plexes about 500 million for 60 days, ie 500 million isk for 35 euros?). As said, the ISK isn't the only thing I value in this (but it isn't something I'll do again, not at least after I (maybe) sell my Taranis pilot in a couple months (might leave that pilot for myself actually...)).

Well, considering that I now have a grandtotal of ~750 million ISK (that is, with the 500 I got from the trade) I suppose that is not an option for me   The ISK just burns through my pockets...
