Warrior Priest with book
« on: December 15, 2008, 06:27:33 AM »
So, has anybody else noticed the *massive* change for healing WP's when they wield a book? Gone are all the RF woes, survivability rised to all new spheres and I even put out more damage than before  :o

Righteous Fury
Books now autogenerate RF. Which means I can hit my healing buttons as fast as I can, and it will take a very long time before I run out of RF. An occasional Smite now and then (on the Squig or WE tagging with me 24/7) keeps me RF fueled for ever.

Survivability
I don't have to stand at the front. I stand at the back with ranged classes, and mostly dance with Squig pets and Witch Elves. And I laugh at them both, because their attacks go plonk against my armour while I have my three HoT's running up all the time. Occasionally I still get focused down, but that happens when I am standing in the wrong place and/or don't move fast enough to safer spots.

Damage output
Did I mention Squigs and WE's? They have very little damage, so I just autoattack their butts, occasionally providing a str buff for my defensive target if nobody urgently needs healing. And if there are many targets, just smite or use tactics to deal AoE damage (the tactics also AoE heals, so quite useful :) ).

Yesterday in one scenario I breached 200k healing done (was in Basin IIRC, still doing T3 scenarios :) ). 150k is pretty much a normal amount of healing done. What is interesting though, that since I am not taking a helluvabeating anymore, my Renown and XP generation has plummeted. Tried it out in one game where I ran to the front like I did before, and yup, being hit a lot (and dieing a lot) amazingly *does* generate more Renown and XP. Keeping people up apparently isn't something Mythic would like WP's to do. Thus, if I'd want to be selfish, I should do things least productive for the team...  ::)

Watch out for those Squids as the SH's level - they do start becoming very annoying.
The dmg output of SH's has been boosted - and their pets now get heals - a well played SH can really put a dent in your team.

But the WP looks like a much nicer class to play now with some good offensive debuffs, group removal of HEX's, etc :)

Warrior Priests have always been great in my opinion, but now they're even more so. It's especially nice to have several in your party, spamming groupheals. Played a few Tor Anroc last night where we had like 5-6 WPs on our side... did great, and the WPs actually regularly topped the damage-charts. It's still a rare occasion when I get ressed by a WP, though, what's up with that?

Old habits, which partly are true still.

1) It was generally a *bad* thing in the past to ress as a WP. The ress costs a crap-load of RF and takes quite a long time to cast. Which meant that WP's fell far behind the front with no RF, which meant the he had no RF to heal and no means to generate more (nobody nearby to whack).

2) You can't cast the ress when somebody is whacking you. When you stand at the front, it is impossible to ress. A spell that in theory takes 6 seconds to cast becomes something totally different when being whacked.

3) WP's don't have any oh-shit heals. WP healing is about a constant and steady stream of healing to everybody. If the stream is halted, people start to croak, and there is no way to reverse that.

With the book changes RF is not an issue anymore. However, if you have a squig nipping at your bottom, you can't cast the ress in any reasonable time-period. Also, before casting the ress, you still have to be sure others won't croak because the steady flow of healing is halted for 6+ seconds.
