Movie of the week.
« on: May 15, 2010, 11:25:23 AM »
New idea.  Someone suggests a movie - new or old - we watch it and then chat about it for good or bad.

This first week its Boondock Saints and/or Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day :)

Go go go.  (Seen them both, so will let you guys find out about them. Suffice to say BAD ASS BILLY CONOLLY.

Watch them - find them on the net and watch them (Ninjavideo has a flash version of Boondock Saints (first one).

Anyways, this go round, its not a movie, but a us tv show called Community. Show about a group of fuckups going to Community College.  Some good episodes (got them all on my Ipod recently thanks to ebil piwates).

Fave is the 23rd episode - Modern Warfare.

Quote
28 Days Later - Jeff waking up in the car
Pitch Black - Abed's goggles
The Matrix - Abed's wallrun and musical sting
Terminator 2 - "Come with me if you don't want paint on your clothes."
Highlander - Troy and Abed talking about the Prize
Die Hard - too many to cite
The Warriors - "Study group, come out and play!"
Hard Boiled - El Tigre
Predator - The suicide bomb (I know it's a common trope, that's just what it made me think of with the laughter)
Rambo - Shooting up the Dean's office
Scarface - Chang fires the automatic paintball gun

Look it up and watch it - again Ninjavideo is the master here :D

Leon.

Im watching a version I got off the net (even though i own on it dvd) that seems to have stack of extra scenes in.  That actually add to the movie - even to the wierd undertone between Mathilda and Leon.

yeah i think they edited out a lot of the sexual connotations between leon and maltid that are present in the international version so as not to upset anyone. I remeber Mnagra/ Serapis was a big fan and wrote a post about it  on horned fist site once.

"no women, no children"

Its one of my favourite movies, but you do need the international version, as the other versions dont explore the relationship as much. (probably as elv said it makes people uncomfortable)
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Oldman does that in pretty much every movie he is in. The guy is a fabulous actor.

Anyways, check out The Crazies this week folks: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455407/

I grabbed it off Ninjavideo (yes you need the divx version they recommend) and the quality is perfect.

The film itself is a real good watch, if a little cliched at times (although if I was a horror/thriller virgin it wouldnt seem that way of course), plot is kinda end of the worldy, conspiracyish, zombiesque etc, but the action and the gore really do make it.

Its also a remake of a Romero number from 1973, and while they dont tend to be well done, this one is actually different to that curve of shitty romero remakes.
