EVE Online Fanfest 2009
The Sixth Annual Party at the Top of the World October 1 - 3
Iceland Beckons... Are You Brave Enough to Heed the Call (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUDazGQW4gY&fmt=22)?
It is time once again to start marking your calendars and making your reservations for the 2009 Fanfest in Reykjavik, Iceland! Get ready for another weekend of PVP tournaments, hanging out with the developers, and partying in a sea of fellow EVE Online fans. As always, Fanfest attendees will be treated to videos and announcements on the future of EVE and what players can expect in the upcoming expansions.
Fanfest returns to the epic Laugardalshöll Convention Center, October 1 - 3. A list of Icelandair world departure points and Fanfest packages can be found below. Last year flights to Iceland sold out so book your flight as soon as possible!
Further details, including Fanfest 2009 Access Pass availability and pricing, will be announced later, as the event draws closer. Stay tuned for further updates.
Fanfest brings together players in a massive celebration of the virtual world of EVE Online. Travelers from all around the world gather in one of the most beautiful and unique locations the planet has to offer. Allies and rivals alike set aside their ingame differences to share drinks with one another and forge new friendships. CCP developers mingle with the community, always up for „talking shop" and getting to know the fans.
Iceland is a once-in-a-lifetime destination vacation. Perlan, the Saga Museum, the Blue Lagoon, the Northern Lights and many other wonders await your arrival. The Sisters of EVE Program will give your friend or partner a chance to visit Iceland along with you: Details regarding the program coming soon.
NOTE: Limit one spouse ticket per Fanfest ticket. Spouse tickets are not available individually-they must be purchased with an accompanying Fanfest ticket.
* Please note that you have to be 18 years or older to enter the Fanfest area.
Icelandair is offering special rates on a variety of packages for airfare and accommodations. Visit their website for more information and to book your reservations.
Fanfest tickets are sold separately and at a later date. Stay tuned for further updates.

While I am not sure if I can make that time of year, I'll certainly be aiming to attend another Fanfest.
I know many of you are poor students or family men, but anyone else thinking about it?
-
Maybe next year.
-
I won't rule out going there.
I won't count on it either, though.

Given the rubbish £-Euro rates at the moment, it may work out cheap for your continentals to come to the Uk and fly from here :)
-
Looking at the prices, it seems it would be smart to buy the packet in Swedish crowns (hooray for the sucky status of the Swedish money ;) ). However, I am not sure I actually have time next autumn, remains to be seen.
-
So Im going now :)
Really looking forward to it, hopefully this year the rules for roundtable discussions wont change on the fly from day to day.
-
So Im going now Smiley
Unluckyily this year i cannot make it, have other plans in october :(

I'm glad I retired early. RT @Rubber_Rabbit Classic burlesque depravity at CCP party, scantily clad vampire girls, fire jugglers and alcohol Link 3 hours ago
Looks like these CCP guys know how to party. ;D

I love it when you drunk post - im usually far too thrashed to do it in a way that makes sense. Hungover posting at 630am is more my style. And yes I am a geek and I know it. This year more so as Ive taken the lappy and am becoming on of several folks who logs on from the lobby of this hotel and chats about EVE while playing eve - Hiltons own fault for their being better wireless reception in the lobby than the rooms (which is good enough in room for anything bar eve).
-
So...how goes the spacebunny-hunting? ;)
-
Registered, have all my goodies, taken some pics of this year FF look, bought some stuff in the eve store (every back of issue of eon and the 3rd edition maps book).
Currently we are waiting for CCP to announce how to sign up to roundtables, then we can do that and fuck off to Prikid for lunch.
-
chats about EVE while playing eve
this :D
cant remember posting last night :S hehe

Alliance presentations rocked.
Goons was messy as Darius was hammered; Morsus Mihi's was epic - they havent done one before so no expectations - MM has a former EVE Uni corp on board (TGRAD), and somehow Vuk decided to announce they were giving EVEU alot of isk in ships - I havent slept yet but it was in the billions if memory serves.
Good that the panel was on the thursday this time and not buried in an AM slot on the friday when no one would be bothered to watch it - or turn up to take part. This time TQ was rammed for it and everyone had a great laugh - the hall was buzzing, and then the city centre seemed too, hell theres still a bunch down in the hotel bar. But this boy needs sleep - staying up just to get a sandwich from Nonnabiti's isnt the best idea ive had, although switching to soft drinks at 2 helped.

Airports suck.

Airports suck.
and you just realised this after how many years of traveling? ;P
but seriously i agree they are just plain evil incarnate.
-
Excellent people-watching opportunities though, assuming nothing's gone wrong with your own airport event.

Airports suck.
Customs released your ass yet?
-
Been home a short while - detoured via london to see some friends.
Currently sorting out all my stuff :D

Mittani on fanfest :)
-
He is actually pretty spot on regards fanfest and how to approach it and have a good time. And as usual his writing is great :)
-
I liked the part about cosplay and CVA hehe
(who in their right minds actually go roleplaying like that and what should brutor people do? shave their heads and get a tan?)
-
Brutors are strong-willed and have a great sense of individuality. They are a swarthy people, a bit larger and burlier than the other Minmatar tribes. They favor physical prowess over anything else and can be frightening to face.
If you take "larger and burlier" as "fat and lazy", this could work great for some MMO-players. If you take it to mean trained and muscular, I doulbt many at any MMO's fanfest would like to cosplay types like them. :P
Or perhaps I'm just projecting now.... :-\

Fanfest 2010/2011 will be held in March 2011:

Do it.
FF is great fun. Bring the missus and even she can have a good time - they lay on a program of activities for eve-wives and such. Spa's, riding, sightseeing etc.
Take some time before ot after it to see the icelandic sites, glaciers, geysers and of course volcanos.
-
Will see if I can come...
Depends if I get permanent position etc but suspect I'll get that after all tickets are gone :(

Always selling FF tickets - hell they sell a bunch to locals on the door ;)
Id be more worried and good packages from the airlines etc.

Never good packages from Sweden I suspect... Always have to take idiotic detours.
-
My internship's 200E/month won't get me there, so maybe next time.
-
Hmm if the prices from last years (October) is about the same as this time it should be doable for me to go...
Since it is 24-26 does that mean it starts morning the 24th? Or should I plan for 23rd? :P (I'm not well travelled :P)
Ah well will see what the packages is... (and what kind of hotels they include)
-
Starts on the 24th yeah. Always good to rock up a day or two in advance - meet up with folks and get wasted etc, see some of icelands attractions.
Saturday the 26th it finishes with a party, so if you do go home on the sunday 27th dont go too early as travel with a hangover is awful.

Probably only one flight not much choice unless I want to spend a day at Oslo or Copenhagen airports... (SAS crappy policy of not flying anywhere from Stockholm direct...)
