Title: Taking down a Titan
Post by: Warcold on February 11, 2009, 11:28:34 AM
High-end FC-ing: "Take a breath"  :D

"Avatar class titan piloted by Hurley of the Band of Brothers alliance is baited, trapped and destroyed by Goonswarm and Pandemic Legion subcaps in H-ADOC on 4/1/2009"

Seen alot of titan kill videos but thats the best of the bunch really, I prefer hearing the FC, rather than some shitty music the video uploader likes (usually metal or some shit).

Thanks for linking that one :)

That FC is too panicky for my liking , need to remain calm :)

FC = Fleet Commander? He was tense. I'm sure I heard someone telling him to take a breath.

My initial thought at the start of the video was that I was watching a swarm of frigate-type vessels take down a capital ship. But they were all capital ships, weren't they?

A mix of ships I think - Battelships, Heavy Interdictors and probably everything else besides :)

they are not just taking down a capital ship, they were taking down a titan, the biggest ship around
go here to get an idea how big it really is http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/DavikRendar/EVE-ships_Quantum_Rise_Edition%5B1%5D.jpg (http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/DavikRendar/EVE-ships_Quantum_Rise_Edition%5B1%5D.jpg)

Wouldn't happen to be a smaller version of that file somewhere, would there?

@Caradir: what you really want is an FC who, while chatting and leading the attack, is also tabbed out and catching up on your guild's forums. I seem to remember once knowing a guy who could do that...

No smaller version - the downloadable version from EVE-files is 166mb. http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Frocke/H-ATitanKill.wmv

As for the FC you recall, its possible things havent changed except he now has a dual monitor setup ;)

Sorry, I meant for the ship comparison image. Froze my browser trying to view it so I downloaded it but Windows is still having some trouble. My work PC is, shall we say, not a gaming rig. I seem to recall one of you linking a smaller image once.

I'm sure the curve is exponential, so I'll just quadruple the number of things I assume "he" is doing during fleet battles. ;D

Its an older version, but gives a similar overview.

Less epic fight... but I like the quietness of that chat and FC :)
Easy to my ears :)

Can other ships use the jump portals that Titans create?

Yes - titans are a pretty good logistics platform in that regard.

A case of proving Darwins theory?

Was chatting with people on both sides when this happened lastnight :)

Gotta love Shrike - can you imagine how many of the Goon-NC-PL people in Delve dropped everything to race and get on that kill ;)

I would think so.

Items dropped? There's salvage when you kill another player?

Yes - when you pvp and win against another player, their ship is destroyed, but not all the equipment on it or items in the cargohold are.  Its often profitable to loot the wrecks left after pvp - the modules can help repay people on your side that had losses or just general make you rich (some gear is worth hundreds of millions of isk and are often fit by idiots - although in the case of titans really good gear is necessary given their 40billion isk average cost.) Also you cna then actually salvage the wreck for components to make rigs too.

Ex-BoB/Kenzoku Killboard has values for that loss:

http://www.killboard.net/details/304886/

Although the faction & officer gear: Rayseres, Corpum, Centus C/A-Type etc is all waaaaaaaay undervalued due to the fact that gear is not sold on the market it is sold via player contracts (a system that cannot be accuratley datamined)
