Title: FC Commands
Post by: Mangala on February 10, 2009, 01:18:01 PM
Movement:

"Align to x" - Using the align to command a group should basically point and being sub-warp movement towards that object. Makes life easier when a group needs to be warped.
"jump on contact" - as soon as the fleet reaches a gate the individual members jump through and begin aligning for the next gate.
"hold at gate" - opposite of above.
Gate is RED - Do not jump)
Gate is GREEN - Jump)

Combat:

Primary - First target to be focused on by all combat ships.
Weapons Free - Shoot at will

Tackling:

Point - Using a Warp Scrambler (close range) to place 2 points of warp jamming on the target to prevent them from running.
Scram - Using a War Disruptor (long range) to place 1 point of warp jamming on the target to prevent them from running.
Web - Using a Stasis Webifier to slow the target down, making them easier to hit.

Ewar:

Jam  - ECM has been applied to Jam the target and prevent their ability to lock on to our fleet members.
Damp - A sensor dampenor has been used on the target. This can affect their overall locking time.

Aren't there any EVE "standard" terms?

As we all know EVE has it's own subculture with it's own terms... and since this is a big part of EVE culture I can't imagine there aren't standard used terms for it...
And if there are standard terms... it would be most useful to use those, since one day (soon I hope) we will join an alliance and they too use those terms...

Don't those guys from the PVP training have something to say about it? (since half of EVE's pilots have had a course there it will most probably be the standard...)

only one I know to add to the movement:

"jump on contact" - as soon as the fleet reaches a gate the individual members jump through and begin aligning for the next gate.
"hold at gate" - opposite of above.

Regarding the word "Jump". It's quite annoying tbh for my poor little brain :P  FC says "I'll jump through" and I get this terrible pavlov drool reaction to press the jump button... Could it be possible to use the word "Jump" only when the whole group is supposed to jump, and use something else when just a single player is supposed to go through (like for example "I'll go through, the rest hold&orbit)? Last night I did jump through only once after such a reflex, but it was damn close a few other times too :P

WHich is why i switched to saying "i'll go through" or "going in" and combinations of those ;)

Ah, no wonder it was easier to control my fingers as we did progress further :)

Agony used:
- scram on 'target*' (warpscrambler (2 points warp/mwd jam) in effect on named target)
- point on 'target*' (warpdisruptor (1 point warp only jam) in effect on named target)
- web on 'target*' (stasis webifier in effect on named target)
- jam on 'target*' (ECM in effect on named target)
- damp on 'target*' (sensor dampener in effect on named target)
(*: insert name of ship or pilot here)

- battlecoms, ... (cut the chit chat: something concerning the operation is going to be said)
- break, break, ... (emergency, ALL shut it and listen)
- recon ... (codeword preceding intel on the surroundings, usually in this order: Recon, Name (name reporting pilot), Where (system & grid), What (1: inhabitants of local chat, 2: ships on grid, 3: any stuff on 360 directional scan).

Hold on gate will not mean HOLD on gate, but usually orbit @ 500m (-> always move!)

All commands around gates i know off:
- hold on gate
- jump on contact
- jump & hold cloak
- jump & allign
- jump & reapproach

Agony regularly used the command 'Jump, Jump'. Probably as an extra countermeasure to feckups when the J-word is being said -> only jump when the double command is used.

-> Notice this is how Agony did it to my recollection and not per sé the commands being used in Ma'adim.

Noob question: How do you know which grid you are in?

It's a good question :)
The grid is where the ship is - gates are usually centered on their grid.  A grid generally (but not always) 249km but can be larger.  Generally if you can see a ship - then it's on-grid.

"grid" is whatever appears on your overview roughly 250km cubed

so if you were at the suroken gate to anttiri youd give that as your grid position

So for example a voice com of

"Recon, Swuul, in Anttiri at gate to Suroken. Four enemies orbiting the gate; one Harpy, one Domi and two Ferox."

would be a correct way to report recon?

almost ;)

"break, break, recon. Swuul Anttiri -Suroken gate, 120 in local, 4 on grid harpy, domi, and 2 ferox. 360 is clear"

Grid also appears on top left of your screen.
