Title: Eve Test Server: Sisi
Post by: Rubino on January 18, 2009, 12:58:54 PM
SISI is one of the test servers CCP have setup for Eve.  I believe there's another test server - but I can't dig out the info at the mo.
It's been a very long time since I used it - does anybody have any guidance about how to setup and access it?
The KB article is here: http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=33 - just wondering if there's anything else needed/suggested.

As it's where the coming expansion will be deployed to first - it'll be handy for those interested to get themselves setup to access the test server.

The knowledgebase article pretty much has it set right as it needs to be for getting onto Sisi (Multiplicity is the other, more internal test server, they occasionally let us play there too :D)

Only issue with SiSi access is that they mirror players periodically not all the time, so some of our newer players may not be able to play themselves on it, but have to recreate from scratch.

*Grumpy and unwilling to think*

Anyone can explain me how this shit works? All i see is a patch that i shouldnt apply to EVE itself. How do I set up this SiSi censored?

lol - the linky gives the info but basically:

Right click on the eve shortcut on your desktop and select "Open File Location"
Go up a directory.
Right click on the folder and copy and then paste.
You'll now have a copy of the eve install.
Rename it to "EVE - SISI" to make it clear what it's for.
Enter the folder and right click and drag the eve app to the desktop and create shortcut.
Rename it to "EVE -SISI"
Right click on the shortcut and properties.
In the "Target" textbox - append this  /server:87.237.38.50 - so you'll get something like: "D:\CCP\EVE - SISI\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50

That's about it - double click and it'll start.

Edit: Forgot about the patch.
As Peo said - you may need to patch.
Often the autopatcher will kick in when you start - it'll ask you if you want to download.  Say Yes.
It'll then kick off - the intial screen is mostly burb - when you hit next it'll ask you if you want to install it to the current folder.  CHECK that it's the SISI folder you named above - if so continue.

1. make a new install in a separate folder (c:\evetest for example)
2. apply patch to that particular instal
3. make a shortcut to the "evetest" install exe and in the properties line add "/server:87.237.38.50"

When attempting to log to SISI, I get the following error message:

Icompatible (Release)

Wonder what I should do now?

EDIT: Doh... figured it out  :-[

Can't apply the test patch :(   I copied the install folder to another HD, renamed the folder to test eve, changed the short-cut details, downloaded the patch, and now I get this:

What am I doing wrong?

Try running the test patch as Admin

I had a problem earlier with the patch from the eve website.
The auto-patcher worked however when I used that.

How do you use the auto-patcher?

When you have made the fresh copy - just run the SISI shortcut.
When you reach the login page - the autopatcher should kick in and tell you about the download.

All I get is this: http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/8008/exefile2009013017200234zm3.jpg

When I then try to log in, I get the error report "Incompatible (Release)".

Firewall has required ports open (in fact I tried to run in DMZ too), but nothing seems to happen :(

There appears to be a bad patch for the premium client (http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=985778)
