Title: Out of EVE - A web based character management tool...
Post by: Mangala on December 29, 2008, 07:07:46 PM
http://outofeve.com/

So I am in the process of installing the source material for that website to our own website so we can have access to this ourselves.

Which is why I am not online, dont want to be distracted while I make sure I get it all right (luckily the database is done, so thats my biggest issue taken care off :D).

As you can see from that sites about page:

http://outofeve.com/about/

It offers oodles of features - however it does require a users FULL api key not limited (this is encrypted by the source package so no host (ie me etc) can get at that info) - including lots of corp focused things like being able to keep track of market orders offline etc, apparently there is even a pos module being created for it to aid in helping with that (oog timer for fuel etc)

Just thought I'd make you aware of what is coming in the next week or so :)

:)

Here it is:

http://maadim.handsofjustice.co.uk/maadimanage/

As I said it requires your FULL Api key - not the limited one that evemon etc use.  The key is encrypted once it hits the database.

Feel free to register - dont use your eve login details or anything ofc. Once registered you need to add a character to your account - do this under Manage Eve Accounts.

Any questions just ask in here :)

One question.
When you say encrypted. How encrypted is it?
Is there any way anyone else can see my character details and various codes? Before i got adding my characters to it I just want to be sure that NO-ONE other than me can access my details.
The reason im asking is that I use my PC for various work related stuff as well and as a result I have a fair amount of sensitive stuff on it. Yes all of that stuff is on a seperate drive which is 4096 bit encrypted (work specified  ::) ) But I have to be certain of any third party software i put into my system as I then have 6 seperate firewall / AV / System monitor programs I have to authorise it through before i can use it.

No one can see it.  I can only see characters I have added to my current account, let alone anyone else's.  The database is pretty secure on this server so thats another bonus (the site only adds a login cookie to your machine, not software itself :D)

It needs to be https though, rather than http (i.e. SSL enabled)

Just be aware that the account information for eve is encrypted and not hashed.  The info is decrypted (for use when talking to eve) and therefore there is the potential of the information being harvested.  I've done a quick code-review and there's nothing majorly wrong with the current codebase - this could change with addons and/or future versions.

Yup - and this is having the effect of info being slow or api-error'd on the MAADI-Manage site, refreshing a few times makes the API do its job properly.
