Title: Keyboards
Post by: Rubino on December 08, 2008, 10:44:35 AM
The Logitech G15 keyboard is a nifty keyboard in general but comes into it's own when gaming.
It also comes with a very extendible interface which uses the same scripting engine (LUA) as many games - Warhammer being one of them.
I have a plugin in development that allows passing of state information between the game and the keyboard - allowing the keyboard to respond semi-intelligently to game activity - additionally it updates the little LCD screen with some information.

While it is still a little expensive - it's very handy :)

I've had one for I would guess 2 or more year, so it doesn't look as shiny as the one in your link.

To be honest the only benefit it of it currently is the LCD display showing the time and weather, or the one time I use TS, it displayed who was talking.

It has an integrated LUA scripting engine and I use it often when coding - and have code-assist macros assigned to various functions.

The quick-recording of macros is pretty handy if you don't want to turn to scripting.

The real power comes from scripting.  For instance I have a plugin to both War and the keyboard that allows War to pass state information.  Which allows the KotBS aura to register themselves and be assigned to "sticky" keys.  So I can turn auras on and off.  Combine this with a macro and you can cycle through the auras you have enabled.  Throw in some code for dealing with AP levels and you drop the number of things you need to track and manage.

If enough people have the G15 then I'll stick to LUA - otherwise I can develop a sys-tray applet to handle what the keyboard can do and allow people to assign keystroke combos.

Just bought one, will arrive at some point in the next week or so.
The 'see who's talking on TS/Ventrilo' was the sell.

I don't know if it works correctly though, because when I used it, the only name it ever displayed was "Beosvir"    ;)
