Title: EvE Character Sticky Thread

Here are the list of EvE online characters that HoJ members are willing to acknowledge existence of.

Vac and Beos will gladly fund most minor stuff to get people rolling here.

And as Beos pointed out, momentum in EvE is key - LEARN TO MAKE MONEY - you don't need mad skillz for this.
We currently hang out in 'EVE NEWBS' channel. (Channels & Mailing Lists, join)

If Beos or I give you money, buy the following:
Cybernetics 1 Skillbook (then train it)
+2 Implants (1M each, 6 sets, = 6M)

This will make your training life whizz past that much faster. Read the other threads about this (e.g. This one (http://handsofjustice.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=389.msg2746#msg2746)).

These are those I am willing to name, I have several more spread over my accounts, but they have certain roles I'd like them to be kept quiet because of or in ones case runs another corp that helps my passive income.

I'm usually in EVE NEWBS - a custom channel I have - so join it and say hi.

As for a corp - Ma'adim Logisitcs is the corp my most of my guys are currently in. I'm applicable to opening its doors to HoJ members, while you find your feet in EVE etc with Hangar access to whats in there currently - I've already squirreled lots of stuff away, incase you are all out to get me!

Although I still cannot recommend EVE University enough to newer EVE players.

I have a Celestis cruiser at the moment and I'm training up Gallente Cruisers so I can get into a Gallente Battleship. I don't really know what the differences betweens the ships are but they seem to be bigger and better than what I have and I'd like to make battle on people's ships so it makes sense to me.

You might want to look at BattleCruisers before a BS - lighter on skills and a good stepping stone to BS's

I used to love the old stand alone game 'Elite' I played that for ages and this looks like a nice modern update of it.

Recommendations from another noob (me) :) :
1) Read through the Eve online thread here (http://handsofjustice.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=389.0).
It's a lot of random info, but there's loads of useful links in there!

2)Follow Vac's advice:

For your first space pilot class (rather than cyno alt, trade alt, miner, etc) you probably want the race/subtype to be Caldari/Achura.
5. DO spend a few hours learning the 'Learning' skills. Doing it now will make your life much easier.

Especially the 3 links are very nice! Not too much info, and it'll get you started well on your character. From there it'll be a lot of trial and error - or a lot of reading guides if you prefer that way. It's not quite as bad/hard as they make it out though :) I was flying within a few minutes, and could find my way round the stars after a few hours/a day or so. Cluelessly flying/finding my way around, but flying! ;)

Oh, and one more thing, that took me a while to wrap my head around myself: your character's attributes will only influence how fast you train related skills.
So someone with perception 20 and gunnery 4 will shoot exactly as well as someone with perception 3 and gunnery 4. However, the person with the perception 20 would have learned his 4 points in Gunnery a LOT faster.

Ok EVE downloaded and character created. Akamine.
So far ive done the initial tutorial. I think this is going to take a while for me to get the hang of.  :o

Oh and is there more than one server? im on tranquility at present though there doesnt seem to be a choice of servers offered to me.

Yeah, it took me several days to even understand how to fly somewhere conciously, instead of just pushing buttons randomly and hoping for the best  :o  Find one the onöine newbie tutorials (there are lots of them, google for "eve-online newbie guide") and follow one, it's what I did and slowly it all started to make sense :)

Thanks for the cash boost Beo.  Strange how money seems to go to more money. Ive bought and equiped a new ship boosted some skills yet with the quests and mining ive done i still have just under 10 mill in the bank

I am Medeba in EVE and I have joined the suggested corp.
A well used MMO name for me. Her last incarnation was a shadow priest. Amarr with their hooded figure in the character selection looked like they could have been SPs so I went for those :)

Thus far, we have needed zero training time, and have been born with 802,000 skill points. After this, you will need to purchase the following skills, or obtain from the local market when you arrive in whatever system the station is in.

Currently at this stage.

Required extra training will commence in coming week.
