Read halfway now. Nice guide!
Quite a few things I already knew, but acts as a good reminder. Other stuff handles stuff I hadnt bothered to delve into yet, so good to see it in a single (basic) guide!

HoI3 experience helps a bit, but only a bit.
Reading some on forums and wikis and playing with ppl who have played before helps more.

So you up for a game in the coming week(s), Jon?

And Garry, didnt you get the game too, back when? Or are you still on a non-gaming spree?

would i need teh Islam dlc?

Islam DLC not absolutely required. Beth and I will play that DLC at some point, but we can do without it for a game with more players. With the sale gone, the required DLC for an islam game goes for €10 and the bells and whistles that dont really add much (african unit pack, song of the caliph) cost a few euros more. Up to you... As we said in shout, we can go for a France game or w.e. with ppl that dont have islam DLC.

Regarding timing: Planning is difficult for me atm with the baby and all, so dedicated nights are a no go tbh. Beth and I usually hook up when we see the other is online and then play for as long as I can manage, sometimes one hour, sometimes a few. Ad hoc as hell.

As for learning the game Saf and i can help via mumble. We know the basics good enough to explain them via mumble if you have questions. I do reccomend going through the tutorial and the guide i pistes. Also reccomend you do it i. that order.

A very nice write-up that Beth gave me the link to: a song of lice and ire  ;) (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08/02/an-iberian-winter-crusader-kings-ii-diary-part-one/)

And some info on the GoT mod of CK2 (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/19/where-the-wildlings-are-crusader-kigns-ii-got-mod/#more-116725)

The last expansion (The Republic) looks cool too. Beth and I played it for a bit today and it sure has promise, although there are some questionmarks to be filled in. Paradox isnt very good in in-game help, so going through forums and videos now.
