Cant really recall what it was about.

I know its one of those bleak as fuck british movies directors like so much though.

aye fairly popular round these parts its a yorkshire film, and random fact brian glover was one of my mates grandad.

poor yorkshire boy f has shit life learns to play with kestrels feels happy, kestrel dies life is shit again.

See, now I don't need to waste time watching it (though I seem to remember my old man waxing lyrical about it). Nostalgia takes no account for taste it would seem.
