Title: Dear England
Post by: Mangala on January 05, 2010, 12:10:36 PM
I love you all, but its a bit of snow.

Man up and deal with it, so I wont be crashed into or run over by you on the roads that our fail councils dont bother gritting as they have none or spent the grit budget on global warming protections :D

It's not the size of the waves, its the motion of the ocean.

I like to think it's the size of the ocean that counts.
I also think the Holland lands are up for some snow again as well.

Had a great time two weeks ago out in the snow.
Our national railway system grinded to a halt.
I made a snow angel.
How win am I.

This is an old picture.  Most of this snow showed up overnight.  I apologize for the size of the image.

I dont live there anymore, but I do miss it.

Just thought I'd mention we have about 1 meter (about three feet) of snow here, and currently the thermometer shows -28 degrees Celsius (last weekend we had -32 degrees).

Everything else works fine, except the Pendolino trains (locomotives made in Italy), of which one crashed right into the Helsinki Railwaystation a couple days ago. Dunno who the smart one was who decided Italian locomotives is a brilliant idea in this climate... They freeze every winter, usually they just don't move, but this time the brakes of the locomotive had frozen (the brakes on the carriages worked, which was the reason the train didn't crash in at full speed, but a train moving 20 km/h still does make an impact). Good thing the train was mostly empty, just the personell in.

One person was reported to have got nose-bleed, others got just some minor bruises. Apparently the train driver had been able to give a warning a over the train speaker system a few seconds before the crash, so the people inside had time to brace for impact.
