Title: server cloning

This Wednesday we are going to clone some of our busiest servers to help spread the load around and to reduce queuing times. Please note however that this is not a solution for a server where only one side has queues; it will only be used when the entire server is too full to avoid issues with the population balance. The servers that we will be cloning are as follows:

Karak Eight Peaks will be cloned to Tor Anroc
Karak Azgal will be cloned to Zhufbar
Karak Hirn will be cloned to Yvresse
Eltharion will be cloned to Tiranoc

not really had an issue with queing but post here if you have :)

Queues arent an issue at all for me, not since HS began really.

Hopefully destro will move and things will be a touch more even.

Either way cloning is fun, chars, guilds, progress is all copied over, so we'll have 2 sets of mains.

Plus I dont want to change all the places I have written Karak Hirn!!

/me finally has the net again after a silly powercut that also ballsed up his modem. Mid keep seige!!!!

Never having experienced a server clone before, I'm assuming we all just still play on Karak Hirn as before? And we'll have a set of toons on the new one too?

Will they just stay at the level they were at during the clone, or level as we level on Karak Hirn?

This cloning thing is highly confusing. Don't get it.

Having said that, I spent about an hour queueing for Karak Hirn in total last night. Gave up on Horde as I couldn't really get in witha  few hundred people waiting. Order had 200+ queue at one point as well.

My advice: click play, go and take a wee, pour yourself a drink, check the latest news, then check back on WAR. :D

Yes basically your characters will be identical on both servers after the clone is made, progressing on one server does not progress the toon on the second.

So pretty much everyone will just stay put on Karak Hirn doing nothing at all about the queues...

Or is HOJ moving?

Personally I havent experienced queues and my playtime often gets going at UK primetime too.

So my decision is to stay, and the fact that in the lore Karak Hirn is the site of Bugman's Brewery also appeals to the dwarf in me, whereas Yvresse (or whatever the clone destination is) sounds very elvish and flowery :)

So we're definately staying on Hirn then? Hope so cos I told my mate to joint hat server if he ever installs the game and hopefully get him to join the guild too.
