Title: Suggestion about minerals purchase
Post by: peo on June 30, 2009, 03:27:18 PM
I've noticed that the mineral purchase program regarding ores is a bit messed up.
Mainly since it isn't based on minerals but rather ore prices in jita, these have very little to do with the real value of the ores.
So I suggest we alter the ore prices to be dependant on mineral prices after they have been refined using the best available refinery and tax deductions.
This is only viable when we have a good means of transporting ores from for example c1x to mn5 (50% refinery).
Ofc the transportation cost needs to be deducted as well.
From c1x to mn5 the cost would be about 22k isotopes and iirc 1500 or so ozone, that means a cost per haul of about 6.93m (300 isk per isotope and 230isk per ozone) which means a approximate cost per m3 of 19.25 isk.

If you want I can remake the ore purchase sheet to take these things into account?
If Linnea refines the tax is slightly lower than 5% as well and should have perfect refine of all the ores we can mine.

Of course if c1x is jammed I'll try to think of something else but the general suggestion still holds.

When I set up the program, the prices I used WERE based on the mean of mineral prices in Jita/Amarr/Ours/Rens - not solely ore prices, although I did also take those into account too on the original sheet as you can see on it. Market fluctuations and of course demand since then has changed the prices of everything.

As for updating them, its something Ive been meaning to do for a very long time, but with one thing and another I never got round to it, so if you want to go ahead and do it with much more relevant 0.0 based costings then feel free.

One question though:

I take it you mean via carrier or JF for this point? If so then there shouldnt be a need to deduct cost at all as those materials would come out of the corp supply which we either have sourced from the market at a cost to us already, or when it gets down there I have provided gratis via the services of my ice miners. It shouldnt have to actually cost the corp isk when it can provide the materials from already held stocks.

NB: Perfect refine means taxless & lossless via waste, its not one or the other, its having both the skills and standings at the right levels to ensure neither tax or waste that makes it perfect.

The prices for the minerals have been ok.
The only issue is that ores have been very mispriced.

Yes, via JF.
A carrier doesn't have enough cargospace to be viable, heck without the industrial core a rorqual is hardly enough hehe.
(I can rather easily fill 5 cans in 1h with both hrod and linnea mining which is about what a fully expanded rorqual with rigs can carry)
Well the cost isn't much in either case as I said about 19 isk/m3 of ore so would be 304isk/unit of bistot for example.

I've been looking a bit at this again, simple reason is I want to be able to make sure we know EXACTLY how much each carrier costs in minerals.

The formula I'm using is: (% means only integer amount is taken into account)
payout=(ore-amount%batch)*tax*"special ore modifier"*refining yield*(amount trit/batch * price trit+ "whatever minerals the ore yield in the same way")

It isn't perfect. But is fairly close to what a payout from a ore should be.

With Linneas skills and standing the refining yield is 100% for the ores in fountain and she has a tax of about 3.6% iirc.

Here is the version i've been using to keep track of approximatly how much I make from the ores I mine.

The tax and yields are for g95 and with a JF hauling the yield and tax will be different.

I haven't changed the payouts, they need to be looked at as well. Not sure exactly how and what is best there.

Tried looking at fountan mineral prices right now (used highest buy in available stations)
They are the following:
Tritanium   3,20
Pyerite   3,23
Mexallon   31,21
Isogen   55,19
Nocxium   60,00
Zydrine   1 900,00
Megacyte   3 724,00
Morphite   6 000,00

This would give the following corp prices:
Tritanium   2,56
Pyerite   2,58
Mexallon   24,97
Isogen   44,15
Nocxium   48,00
Zydrine   1 520,00
Megacyte   2 979,20
Morphite   4 800,00

Unless someone opposes I'll make them into the new offical corp prices.

Yup, however the high ends have risen a bit, the basket price of minerals should remain about the same though.

The main reason why I want this fixed is so we can "abuse" ;) noj's JF when he gets it to fountain to move the minerals we have in various places.

Ok, I cleared it and the mentioned prices/system are now official.
Mangala, can you update your thread on it and the file?

And another try haha with the tax and yield from mn5.
