setting it during the old republic does give them more "wiggle" room with story etc so could be good, just no damn playable jedi please.
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Last week, Nintendo denied it was working on a DS redesign...72 hours before it announced that it was working on a DS redesign. Electronic Arts has been doing a similar publicity pas de deux about the " next-generation entertainment product" that its BioWare studio announced last October.

Whatever could this be?

Despite rumors pegging the project as being a massively multiplayer online role-playing sequel to its acclaimed RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, BioWare kept its wall of silence clamped firmly down for over a year. Speaking with GameSpot after the EA buyout, studio cofounders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuck deflected questions about the game in development at their new-ish Austin studio. "We haven't revealed any details about the game," said Muzyka. "It's supersecret right now."

That secrecy evaporated this past July when EA CEO John Riccitiello casually revealed that, yes, a KOTOR MMORPG was in the works. Since then, details on the project--which other EA executives still refuse to speak of--have been nonexistent, with its platforms, price, and exact launch date still unknown.

"LucasArts and BioWare invite you to attend the official unveiling of the game that's been rumored about for years," reads the invite before providing event-locale details. The gathering will be held in San Francisco on the afternoon of October 21, just more than a month after the release of the latest Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed. At a presentation at the Game Developers Conference this past March, producer Hayden Blackman said that the fast-selling game was settled on after a proposed third single-player KOTOR game was ruled out.

anybody else interested in this mmo ?

im not usually into sci-fi mmo's but this one has got my interest.

a collabaration between bioware/lucasarts/ea so some pedigree behind the game
just hope ea does not put any pressure on to rush it.

from what i gather so far there will be no collect 8 bantha meat type quests but quests will be very story driven.

anyway the game is a while away 1+ years atleast but i will be keeping my eye on this one i have signed up to the games forum and newsletter(hoping for a beta invite when they start it hehe).

beware the forums lots of feral american starwars law freaks on there:)

Its not EA im worried about - Bioware despite being EA owned now are very independent (as Dragon Age will show).  Its LucasArts wanting more license control that will bother me if they decide to do so :S

But yes I await this MMO with baited breath, hoping they dont go the level route and go with a more freeform skills based direction.

closed beta may not be that far away bioware are advertising for programmers, csr's and technicians.

one thing made me shudder they want people with online gaming experience with micro-transaction expertise i hope thats not the model they will finally go with im in the monthly subs camp.

I and a few others from The Hornéd Fist (Horde side WoW), are watching this with great interest.

If it turns out to be as good as I expect it to be, this will be my main game. Bye bye WoW etc etc.

I'm on the official forums as Kurtt. If you see me, /wave :)

Bounty Hunters and jetpacks:

http://www.swtor.com/info/classes/bounty-hunter

Although they look like an ability rather than a go anywhere style thing with the world possibly limited to ground only movement ala "generic mmo name".
