Any sense in buying LOTRO and/or Moria before F2P?
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:52:12 AM »
Is there any sense in getting either before F2P hits us?

Do you see any advantages at this stage? I can imagine the F2P purchasable features from Moria for instance, would cost more in the LOTRO store than a cheap copy at the games store?

Just wondering!

Id do it on the basis of getting all the features for one low price rather than a higher price after buying each possibly in the Points Store.

It does make more sense, especially if you can find it cheap.

And - while im not sure on this - there may be advantages to having these as far as the start of f2p system goes (you may start as a premium player giving more options etc)

if its cheap enough id do it, youll get 1 month VIP then your account will automagically be premium for the remainder of its life after that ;) plus youll get 500 store points for the VIP month as well.

Im so glad i purchased lifetime when this came out, ive had much more than my moneys worth (but then lifetimes not always good, not played Champions much after release, they fecked it)
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Yes, I would definitivively buy the game now. Over here the basic game can be bought currently for 5 euro, and that is too cheap really :)

When you have bought the game you will have free access to all the areas (except those which are introduced in the expansions). It means after you go f2p you do not have to spen in-game "points" to buy access to those areas. Also, your account will become "Premium" after you stop playing (instead of f2p), which has quite a few perks compared to the totally free players (higher gold cap, more bags etc) plus 500 points which you can spend at for example removing the gold-cap or the limited bag-space.

So yes, I would definitvely buy the game before it goes f2p :)

Back in the day when I bought LOTRO (< 1 yr I guess) I had to buy online, because no shop in Holland seems to sell it. So best have a gander online instead of downtown.
