Warhammer Online / Guild Alliance - Prospective.
« on: October 15, 2008, 02:44:01 PM »
We're looking into the idea of an alliance with a couple of other guilds. This is purely to maximise our ability to coordinate large raids on keeps and fortresses (eventually).

So far, the lead runners are:

Black Regiment
Cry Havoc

Both of these guilds seem pretty good, and quite RVR oriented - we've also done some PVE with the Black Regiment.

Firstly, does anyone have any bad experiences with either of these guilds?

Secondly, namewise, we were thinking "The Black Hand" - does anyone have any reason this is inappropriate (e.g. in a specific country it means something VERY inappropriate etc. etc.).

Thanks,

Vac

Warhammer Online / Patch 1.0.2 -- ooooh!

Some good stuff in this one ...

In an ongoing effort to deter players from going AFK while in scenario starting areas, we have made the following changes:
First, players who join a scenario and remain in their realm's spawn area for two minutes will be automatically removed from that scenario. Second, upon entering the spawn area of a scenario, players will receive a debuff that prevents them from earning renown and experience. This debuff will be removed when the player leaves the spawn area.

And then ...

The level range at which players are able to receive the “Bolster” buff while in RvR has been expanded. This buff will now be available starting three levels lower than it had been previously. Please note this change only applies to Scenarios on Open-RvR Ruleset Servers.
In tier 2, the buff will apply from rank 8 to rank 17, and will raise players to Battle Rank 18.
In tier 3, the buff will apply from rank 18 to rank 27, and will raise players to Battle Rank 28.
In tier 4, the buff will apply from rank 28 to rank 35, and will raise players to Battle Rank 36.

But also perhaps most importantly to us ...

Fixed a bug that prevented players from creating an alliance with more than two guilds. Now that this issue is resolved, alliances can grow to great numbers to crush their enemies!

Warhammer Online / WAR PC spec
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:15:09 AM »
My loving and kindly wife has authorised me to spend some semi-serious money on a new rig.
Of course, in her wisdom she then offered to come to John Lewis with me to buy it, but I demurred saying I'd rather put it together myself.
She looked at me in a strange way and said 'whatever makes you happy dear'.

On that note, and having read the excellent post on warhammeralliance ... if I was to hand you a grand and say 'there you go, knock yourself out' -- how would you spend it?

Current thinking:

Nvidia GTX 280, 8G Ram, Vista 64, Fast internal disk, Core Duo 3.3Ghz

I should be able to squeeze that into £1000 (remember the need for silence, so decent cooling, power supply, decent case, all the wife acceptance factor stuff etc)

Thoughts?

Warhammer Online / What size is big enough? Let's have a heated debate ...
« on: September 30, 2008, 11:23:26 PM »
Currently we have 78 guild members - of which approx 50 are above 10, 40 above 15. Don't know how many of those are alts - certainly I have 2 guilded alts  (Jacq/Underworld).

The question came up in guild chat -- are we going to slow down/pause the invitation process and allow people to get to know each other and focus on building strength as well as size?

I have repeated that question here to start the debate ...
