BGT 2011
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:48:20 PM »
Going to make it it's own thread, cause you are silent(-ish) victims of my facination with Britain's got talent.
'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

But well, oft it's more about the character and it's story than his/her/their talent. There are more examples of this than there are exceptions but I'll give you an obvious one:

hard to vote this away (well apparently hard enough anyway)

I thought the granddad lyrics were quite good. Can't expect boys to sound good until their voice breaks, unless they sing high pitched shit.

One of the three ladies in the house (buildinz mah haremz) is auditioning for the Dutch version with a dance group next week Thursday.

I rest my case.

Lyrics are ok though yeah, but performance is shyte.
[edit]well maybe not shyte, but it just doesnt cut it compared to other performances and it was just an example how ppl with a sorry story, old or young ppl, etc. - ppl with the awwww-factor in short, are judged more on the awww than on their actual performance.[/edit]

Your case is well rested.

But admittedly, he probably stole that voice from the closet he got out of. If only he were 18, we could have some fun.
Looks like a successor to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Colfer

Actually, WE could have some fun. Surely your gf isn't falling for it anymore after all this BGT stuff.

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

I'll pop up out of nowhere, and do both a necro and go off-topic in one go, how is that? :)

So here's the story: a guildy from my wow guild owns a record company. A few months ago he disappears saying he's got massively busy with promoting and recording a new artist he discovered.
Just the other day he post her name, and guess what - she also participated in the Voice of Holland. Which is pretty much the same as BGT, but with a slightly different format.

I'm curious what you guys think:
Voice of Holland audition, go to 0:45 to skip through the dutch babbling.

And: Live performance on a dutch radio station from last week (click)

Her experience shows and as far as my lay ears can hear, her technique is very good.
Her voice though isnt really my taste. A bit too 'thin'. Tend to like 'darker' voices more, with more depth.
