So VV did suck as I said, however despite that there was 1 or 2 fine distractions so I cannot write it off totally.

In Vientiane now, should have more time to get the blog updated and photos of the past week or so in Laos, plus dig out the other recipes Ive snagged along the way, got a good one for laap, which is a lao salad with spicy minced meat etc

Not sure how long im in town for, and not sure if I''ll head to the plain of jars or down south either afterwards, but plenty of time left on my visa here so thats more than enough time to decide really.

Give the thai consulate here the strength to NOT issue numbers over 300 for the queue when they know they wont get to it, and give them the foresight to NOT give me number 712 with a hangover.

I even got up early (8ish) to get there at a civilised hour (10ish). It just wasnt to be. Tomorrow Im getting there when it opens at 8.30.

I'd have though with your travel experience you'd have remembered that all these places count as follows 1,2,3,4,5,lots,many,manymany etc etc.

To answer though. Both western girls. One called Sam (23 Kiwi) and the other Leah (25 brit).  One I met randomly in a bar while it turned out we were both playing the "bitter travellers who DONT tube" card and the other was on a caving tour I did in the Vang Vieng area, and spent the rest of that day with

Leah should be turning up in Vientiane before I leave the city too.

Anyways, sorted another thai visa - yay for it being free till tomorrow So I can escape to thailand and the islands for some diving anytime I feel like it

But im also tempted by southern laos - bolvean plateau and the 4000 islands specifically.

Stuck in Vientiane for another 5hrs.  Nothing is open and im sooooo boooooooooooooooored.  To think I used to bitch about English towns being too bustling and shit on a Sunday.

My own fault for deciding to leave town today, when I could have comfortably left days ago.  Stupid boy.
