it is possible but both use different online systems, Steam for PC and that Live thing for Xbox, so no cross platform play. Although im sure L4D is on mac and THAT is crossplayable.

Dont think there has been yet - even with xbox live and gfw live being the same thing.

Would be good, as the game code itself doesnt change in regards to lfd, gta Iv, tf2 etc just how they connect to the interwebtubes.

4 from each original campaign, 3 from Crash Course and ofc that bloody Lighthouse (which is a purely Survival map I think).  So yeah 20 or so ;)

tried it twice, it's bugged, thus sucks...
cant get past the heli-map; get stuck at fence and die

fence is bugged thats where i got stuck, DONT go to gate, look for where the heli has crushed the fence and go there instead works fine then.
