could I suggest that the current leaders of each guild; TLA, CoT, HoJ and Elevation chat about an initial leader and officer set up. I favour 2 or 3 officers from each guild at the start to get members enrolled, but there can be only one leader. I think it makes sense to elect a leader once things have settled (week or two) but that means someone needs to step up as an interim, I think that should be one of the current leaders who can put the time in during these early days.

I think if you guys can sort that out over the next few days we are good to go :)

We registered Farstar as a guild and my alt 'illyean' is currently leader with a few officers, I will hand over leadership immediately when the new leader is appointed

like I said, a crowbar applied in a friendly manner may be helpful

http://swthelastalliance.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=438385&TabID=3744731&ForumID=2114024&TopicID=10065368&Page=1#48200540

it would be useful if respective leaders could show some timeframe for things, I am not the crowbar :) though I may resort to using one at some point :D

they may need a crowbar to help turn them ;)

btw, if 3 other like minded fools want to join me at some point we can register farstar with the guild guy, maybe we should hold off until our respective current leaders have acted though

Oh dont get me wrong, I agree with you :), throwing up a workable solution on some cheap as chips (not free) hosting is not much work at all but it is some work and it needs someone to handle it. The beauty of the 'guild portal' things is that you are only managing your guild, not the web site, server, software, etc. I do this crap all day long so the last thing I would want is to be doing it in my free time too.

Being perfectly honest, Im posting more here because this site is clean, simple and easy to use, guildportal based stuff just hurts my eyes and knowing how easy it is to do it right just makes it even more painful.

Anyway, ONE solution needs to be found quickly and admin access granted to a few of the actives (not me :) ) such that everyone interested in this venture can get registered and voice an opinion in the open - NO CLOSED OFFICER DISCUSSIONS

I think if we can all agree to merge and settle on a name a site can be up and running quickly. personally I would like to see this by the weekend, I see nothing that suggests that cant be done.

Im already convinced Jon is the man for this job :)

guild registrar needs a party of 4 to register a guild name, obviously unguilded people :)

the web site, well, I think we should try to avoid it being an emotive issue, TLA use guildportal as do CoT, it is horrible beyond belief but it does the job. Most people do not bother with guild forums and such, but it can be useful, especially in a game with no guild support beyond a chat room.

'Farstar' works for me and has some history. It was the SWG server I played on most and http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/FarStar
'The Descendants' would also get my vote, maybe dropping the 'The'

I think i would vote against anything that tried to honour existing guild names or amalgamated them, this is a new guild and we all know where we came from. This is about building a new group not losing our old identity :)

I'm trying to cross post to TLA/CoT but we need, regardless of new guild IMO, a joint web site. I think the new guild needs sorting out tonight and some actions to put a temporary leadership in place pending elections once we have a new web site taken care of.

cool stuff and I think we are all in basic agreement with each other :) My usual response to 'leaders' insisting' on this type of thing is to ask them how old I am and then play it to its ridiculous conclusion ;)

its more about the pointless rule making than the actual age, set it to 25+, now someone comes along who is 24 and plays well and gets on with everyone and we don't let them in? Its ridiculous. Recruitment needs a policy I agree, but it should be based on a first and a second from within the guild, otherwise its just random chance anyway and some age limit is fine, but the game already imposes one anyway.

fewer rules means more time to do the things we want, unless enforcing rules (which are unenforceable anyway, if someone is 14 and wants in they will lie and no one will know) is what you want to do.

I would say 21+ for spam recruitment, no restriction if recommended from within guild.

hmm not this crap again!

I think if you openly spam for recruitment then this sort of thing is fine, but tbh if I group with an nn year old and they are fine who the hell cares? I am very much against this type of thing, its this rubbish that results in guilds with no members imo. Like I said, open recruitment it makes a lot of sense, but if its someone you know or recommend no restrictions. In reality its unlikely we would attract or be attractive to anyone who didn't fit our profile anyway but the more rules you have the more someone has to enforce them, cant we just play the game?

I'll have to have a word with Aet I guess

:) you may be realising I tend to voice opinions and generally dont let things I dont like go by.

tonight has been one of the bets evenings in game for a long time, lots of chat, very very active and plenty of other folks have said the same thing to me. this is the right thing to do, merging

with regard to FP or OP times, they flex, I set the FP's at a time that suits me, I can usually be around earlier just more prone to child related interruptions :) I think there is quite a mix of people and locations so with greater numbers I would expect it to be possible (for FP's) to do an early and late run :) it should not be beyond us to have enough folks playing to manage groups of 4. 8 is slightly harder to make work but 16 is not even on the chart at this time.

I think its very likely people will want to retain the current in game guilds for alts, I sort of see this joint venture more aimed at the end game groups (which anyone that wants to get to can do so pretty quickly, though I strongly advise people to make sure they see all the scenery).

To my mind although the republic/empire split was obvious it has divided the community without actually dividing it at all. What i mean is its made it a real pain to have toons on both sides and to play with your friends while failing pathetically to do anything it was set up to do. I'm sure there have been evenings when we have had people on the dark side and if they had know there were folks on the light side we would have gotten together (switching over) and made enough for an OP.

Ive created TJA as a chat channel, will try to get TLA into it later, Im sure it will take a day or two though

p.s. we did EV normal 1st attempt, jealous ;P

haha!

yes :)

But partly thats the drive behind me wanting to do this, though with 2 in TLA online last night (3 in total but 2 max at a time) it may be impossible.

LOTRO implemented a new area, I went to check in this morning, sure enough a few TLA are back there, which is fine. But we really need to sort things out.

I ran Esseles HM with CoT last night and they are discussing options, much the same feeling as here, too few regulars to make their own guild sustainable. But also, like TLA I expect, some resistance to change. Interestingly someone commented on the overall drop in numbers on Frostclaw, worryingly I've thought the same.

I think in game is the place to talk about this, lets be honest, if you're not in game, as interesting and valid as your opinion is, its not as important as those who are there, playing. I cant see a way to get people commenting in one web forum, mostly TLA dont bother with their own. So, I propose we create a new chat channel in game and we all get as many of our members to join it and lets see if this is worth progressing.

When I get in game I will try to create 'The Trusted Justice Alliance' TJA chat channel (you lot can debate names later, I will too, but we can call it HelloKittyWorld for all I care right now, its not important)

If you agree, lets get everyone into it and over the next days lets see what, if anything, we cna sort out, if nothing else, we will pull our 3 guilds a bit closer, it may be enough. Personally I think we need to roll as one guild, but lets see :)

I posted this in TLA http://swthelastalliance.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=438385&TabID=3744731&TopicID=10063961&ForumID=2114024#forumEnd
