He can be a bit hit and miss, old Ridley, but when he hits, it flies.

Is Geiger involved in the design work again?

Giger is indeed involved in the alien design. Except the original Xenomorph wont be in it. Think more Giger style Collossi than Giger style alien.

I literally cannot wait for this. Every time I watch the trailer I wee in my pants a little. They even have the Ripley esque character in there, played by that swedish broad from the Girl with the Stick on Tattoo

I remember watching the first Alien movie with my family when I was quite young. (I had to leave the room for part of it in the final act.) One of my most vivid memories of it is of the alien space jockey. I couldn't figure out where the pilot ended and the chair began and I found this unsettling.

I bought Giger's first art book a few weeks ago. The space jockey isn't in there, but man, you can see the lineage of it in his work. The book (the Necromonicon) starts with his earliest work and explains where it comes from and then you see those early pieces become recurring elements in his later work.

This movie will be one of my rare trips to the cinema.

Everyone goes on about the 'Space Jockey' plot hole. I was always of the opinion that the Space Jockey was a Predator. They did infact use the Aliens, and would have had to transport them at some point.

How was the space jockey a plot hole? It was an unresolved question, a mystery, but not one that doesn't make sense.

A plot hole is, "What were all those Decepticons on the Moon doing during the first two movies?"

I meant unresolved question, I simply used the wrong term. If you want, I will beat myself with a stick as punishment.

The decepticons were on the moon because they ran out of fuel on the way to earth. The diesel prices down here didnt seem too appealing to them, so they stopped off at a redneck station just south of the sea of tranquility.

Shh! If Michael Bay hears that, he'll put it in the next movie.

Anyone elese watched this yet, have to say it left me feeling totally indifferent, not a bad movie butyou wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The alien tunnels, ships, style and effects are cool to watch on the big screen but the story is uninspiring, long winded, full of holes and dissapointingly dull.

In my mind it was a good movie.

Went form set piece to set piece, visuals were stunning, and it relied on them to tell the story rather than any meaningful dialogue.

When they didnt place the 3d camera correctly for the 1st 20 minutes of the movie. so i might be a bit biased
