The Dog & Duck / Travel Safety
« on: June 06, 2012, 12:38:03 PM »
I've found some energy to work on an online project again, so I'm putting some effort into a small niche online store selling money belts.

Except I realized I'm not *really* selling money belts. I'm selling safety.
So apart from the very practical product side of things, I'm putting together some content about travel safety.

I was wondering if you guys have any advice and tips on this. And especially your own experiences and stories of things going wrong for you or a travel friend.
I'm scrounging the general information on the interwebs, but first hand experiences are always a lot more interesting.

Various experiences with different money belt models and materials is also welcome.
For instance, I hear a lot of people say that nylon gets very sweaty and that a proper leather belt gets the stuff inside quite moist as well.

Any help and advice is appreciated!

The Dog & Duck / I can has hologram?
« on: April 17, 2012, 06:23:52 AM »
Regardless of musical preference... this is pretty neat.

2Pac Hologram FULL Performance - Coachella 2012

Snoop on stage as well from 2:30 for comparison.
Don't quite understand why the hologram wobbles from left to right though.

Same company did a holographic Madonna from 2:30 to 3:23 in this video:
Gorillaz & Madonna - Feel Good Inc & Hung Up (Live At Grammys)

Madonna doesn't seem to have the wobble thing going on.

My question is: WHERE ARE THE STRIPPERS AT, HMM?

Linky to company because they deserve it: http://www.avconcepts.com/.

These guys proceed to kill the fantasy and explain the whole PepperĀ“s Ghost thing:
http://arstechnica.com/science/news/2012/04/tupac-hologram-merely-pretty-cool-optical-illusion.ars

And someone is having fun with hologram Tupac on Twitter.

Still, strippers!

Garry's shoutbox comments bundled in a post:

SWTOR 1.2 Patch trailer!

Hints of an epic legacy quest requiring multiple alts, possibly on both sides, with equally epic rewards for entire legacy

Team "make game run better" doing just that for low end machines. No Mac  *spits* support planned in near future "bootstrap works just fine"

more "bioware story" this year

Dual spec WONT be in 1.2 but soon

GTN much improved, less mandatory filters, at least 80% less stupid

NO combat macro inclusions

part of target of target is teh ability to see what you entire party are targetting

your ui layout will save as a xml file which will be shareable

more than 2 windows can be opened at same time

UI movability looks to me exactly like LOTROS toggle unlock see shadows of each element and move and size as required.

guild bank will have 7 tabs, 1st cheap 7th not so. Rank limitations on tabs, limits to withdrawals, and some tabs can be set for needing a security key.

rofl "all future chairs will be sittable"

craftable speeders becoming BOE

Ship droid will gain affection, will be able to purchase cores for him that improve the craft you use, he has a vocal restraining bolt fitted

why should i alt? well complete chapter 2 and unlock your class buff for ALL YOUR ALTS

General Gaming / MUMBLE HoJ
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:30:47 PM »
This thread can be reached by directing people to: http://www.handsofjustice.co.uk/mumble

1. DOWNLOAD MUMBLE

Go to >>> http://mumble.sourceforge.net/<<<

Click on the version that is appropriate for your OS.
For example: 'Windows: 1.2.3a (Stable)'. Get the latest stable version on that page.

You'll be taken to the download page and you will start downloading a file or be prompted to do so after a few seconds.

2. INSTALL MUMBLE

Do your thing.

3. SETUP MUMBLE

HOJ Mumble info:

Label:         HOJ
Address:     85.236.101.45
Port:           24337
Username:  your desired username (DO NOT USE SPACES)

4. RECOMMENDED

Be sure to go into settings and setup a push to talk key.
Also run the audio wizard to setup and test your mic

5. THERE IS NO REASON NOT TO HAVE A HEADSET, REALLY
Even if you don't have a mic, you can listen in to tactics. This helps A LOT. It is HIGHLY appreciated by your fellows.
And if you do not have a mic... well... what the fuck? Here are over 100 headsets under 10 quid with FREE shipping.

6. TROUBLESHOOTING MUMBLE

Sometimes people say they cannot connect to the HoJ server.
A - Check the Mumble server info for typos. Remove all server info and re-enter fresh.

B - Do NOT use SPACES in your nickname.

C - UPDATE YOUR MUMBLE TO THE LATEST VERSION. Very important.

D - Run Mumble as an administrator on your machine. People have reported that they cannot be heard ingame if they don't run Mumble as an administrator.

If for whatever reason you can't hear yourself during the audio wizard, or if others can't hear you or if your sound is shit:
A - Pull out your mic plug and plug it back in, making sure it is in the right socket and plugged in all the way.

B - Sometimes you will have to enable mic boost in Mumble or in Windows. But too much can cause distorted sound. Your fellow Mumblers will let you know. ;)

C - Avoid plugging your mic into any 'handy' sockets at the front or side of your pc. Always go for the main socket that goes directly to your motherboard if at all possible. Those 'handy' sockets connect to the motherboard with a cable inside your case and tend to pick up a lot of static.

D - Even though I linked to cheapo mics above, invest in a decent one if possible. I've had my Sennheiser headset for countless years and even though it has been thoroughly abused, it is still awesome.

If you have any questions or anything to add, please let us know below.

Thanks for installing and using Mumble! Game on!

Star Wars: The Old Republic / Pee

Vee Pee!

So... any tips?

I find I'm having trouble deciding on a good ability rotation and icon placement in my bars.
I suppose this also depends on your build, but meh.

Are there any standard do's and don'ts in this area?

I'm using Skrigg's current 23/0/18 pvp vanguard build atm and I must say it seems to work for a nubhead like me. Got some kills in and seems to do a nice bit of damage, without losing too much durability in pvp. Plus setting everyone on fire is fun and helps against the cloakers.

Anyone else pvp on a regular basis besides Kurtt and Yyan? Would be neat to get a premade group going with Mumble.

Oddly surprised that I found myself liking pvp tbh. Seems I missed out in other MMO's.

The Dog & Duck / Does your sky look like this?

http://9gag.com/gag/2050053

If so, can I crash at your place for a few days?  :-*

I read here: http://stargazerslounge.com/astro-lounge/99139-great-uk-locations-very-low-light-pollution.html
That quite a few places in Wales and Scotland can offer purdy views.

I've seen an unedited (as in not dramatised) picture of the sky in some remote area of Afghanistan in a magazine once. My brain exploded.
But since Afghanistan is a tad life unfriendly, I was curious if you guys know of any relatively easy to reach places in le Europes.

Star Wars: The Old Republic / World Boss Bonanza episode #1: summary
« on: January 29, 2012, 05:50:27 PM »
So today was the day and I'm happy to say a fair few of us took the time to meet up on Coruscant.
Larger pics can be seen by clicking the image, clicking 'details' and subsequently clicking the image again on the new page.

[smg id=148] [smg id=149]

From left to right: Temon, Alidhom, Aberdon, Ciceron, Hurbster, Twinkletoes, Kannonnen, Relnor, Kahler and Caol.
Mangala and Almasd joined us a little later.

So we proceeded to the Coruscant world boss.
I checked him out beforehand and he one shotted me. Apparently that's what happens when you try to solo him.

Luckily, he didn't present much of a challenge when we ganged up on him. And the poor robot went down.
Loot: Advanced Patron Barrel 5, Droid-brain Implant, Advanced Commando Armoring 5.

[smg id=150]

Mental note: Boss corpses disappear supaquick after the corpse has been lootified.

It was great to see a lot of people wanted to keep going, so it was onwards to Tatooine.
After summoning the world boss, he kept disappearing. Obviously he had gotten a phonecall from the Coruscant droid.
Mangala suggested we all stand inside the summoning circle and that brought him right back into action.
And like his droidy friend, he went down.
Loot: Prototype Battle Instructor Vest, Prototype TD-04A Informant Headgear.

[smg id=154] [smg id=107] [smg id=155]

Most people were still ready for more, so we went to Nar Shadaa to take down another droid.
We got a bit lost, but ultimately found the guy. And took him down.
Loot: Prototype Rampage Assault Greaves, Advanced Orange Resistance Crystal, Prototype Agile Judgement Vest.

[smg id=121] [smg id=158] [smg id=159]

I personally had to log at this time, but the bravest of the brave kept going to put an end to Project Alpha on Taris.
Loot: Advanced Commando Armoring 7, Advanced Reflex Barrel 7, Primal Coordination D-Motivator.

[smg id=136] [smg id=147] [smg id=142]

A big thank you to...

Everyone who took the time to attend today! :)

Everyone who took the time to upload some of their screenies on the forum.

And everyone who was present on Mumble!

All loot seems to be purple and boss level appropriate. Lower level bosses aren't challenging if you're higher level.
More piccies, including loot pics, can be found in the gallery.

So personally I'm looking forward to taking on the endgame world bosses to see what they have to offer.

Perhaps in a quick weekly lvl 50 World Boss Bonanza?

Star Wars: The Old Republic / Bikini mods
« on: January 22, 2012, 03:44:31 PM »
So I'd like my Twilek consular to be able to run around in a hot outfit. This requires keeping her mods up to date.

Who can help me with Willpower/Endurance mods for:

(Cybertech)
Armoring
Mod

And also

(Artifice)
Hilt
Color crystal
Enhancement

GTN is a true bitch to find this stuff and Willpower/Endurance doesn't seem abundant.
I'll be taking commendations as my main quest reward whereever possible, so I can get the commendation mods.

But I do suspect I'll need a supply from level 15 all the way to 50.

Is there anyone that can help me out in exchange for credits?
Or am I better off taking up Cybertech myself (or even Artifice?)?

[update]
Fixed Enhancements.

« on: January 20, 2012, 10:02:13 AM »
So... time we meet up!

Maybe we can get together on Coruscant for a meet and greet and then proceed to tackle some world bosses?

Sunday 29th January? 1pm GMT?

I had a bit of trouble finding proper info on the customization kits for Elara Dorne, everyone's favourite Trooper companion.

Spent 75k to find out what they look like. So for the sake of myself, everyone here and the Googlez, here goes:

There's a vendor in Bug City on Balmorra that will sell you kits 1 through 6.
[smg id=97]

This be him and the cost:
[smg id=96]

Original Elara Dorne
[smg id=88]

Elara Dorne Customization 1
[smg id=89]

Elara Dorne Customization 2
[smg id=90]

Elara Dorne Customization 3
[smg id=91]

Elara Dorne Customization 4
[smg id=92]

Elara Dorne Customization 5
[smg id=93]

Elara Dorne Customization 6
[smg id=94]

Apparently there are more sets, so feel free to add information.
Personally I'm sticking with the original.

Now I'll just wait for Karl to stick in a link to a website where all the customizations are already listed.  ;D
