The Dog & Duck / Random tech support funny
« on: December 09, 2008, 12:56:20 PM »
Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5..0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
·        Romance 9.5 and
·        Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as

·        NBA 5.0,
·        NFL 3.0  and
·        Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

·        Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate.

DEAR DESPERATE,

First, keep in mind,
·        Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
·        Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter co mmand: ithoughtyoulovedme.html, try to download Tears 6.2, and do not forget to install the  Guilt 3.0 update.
·        If those applications work as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to  Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1.
·        Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0-program. This is an unsupported application and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend
·       Cooking 3.0 and
·       Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck!

The Dog & Duck / A rant about the BBC
« on: November 18, 2008, 06:26:03 PM »
<rant>

So BBC iplayer isn't available to those without a UK IP-address. Very annoying when your household consists of two avid Dr Who fans who want to watch the Christmas intro (missed it during Children in Need) and see the Tennant interview where he talks about his departure (/tear /heartbreak).

We're not allowed to see it on iplayer due to rights, blablabla... whatever the reason.

Meanwhile, we and many other people in Europe can watch BBC 1, 2, 3, 4, CBBC, CBeebies and all regional BBCs, ITV 1, 2, 3, 4, Channel 4, More4, E4, Film4, pretty much everything that's free to air or availabe via Freesat. Just need to put up a small satellite dish. Complete free, no subscription required. All damn day long.

And everyone outside the UK watching via FTA satellite don't have to pay a damn thing for UK tv channels.

So basically... what is the point of restricting I-player?!
I know there's probably a lot of money for various rights involved... but it's a damn interview with Tennant and a trailer ffs. It's not like it's the whole show.

Anyone got any good arguments as to why they lock it down so well, while every other BBC Channel is pretty much 'open' to everyone in the UK (legally if they have an even more stupendous tv license) and beyond?

Excuse me while I go pester a buddy in the UK to set up his webcam and mic so I can watch the clips via his pc.
WTG BBC!

</rant>

On a more serious note, thank you BBC for all the quality programs we get to watch absolutely free and thanks to those who actually do pay the ridiculous tv license which keeps the BBC running.

Warhammer Online / Oh em gee white lions
« on: October 19, 2008, 06:11:06 PM »
They dish out so much damage, it's hurting my eyes! I actually kill people in rvr and anyone who rvrs with me knows how much I suck at rvr.

Squighunter feels similar, but doesn't do as much damage at all. At least it doesn't feel like it.
A white lion is like a hot knife cutting through really soft cold stuff!

General Gaming / Natural Selection (2) - Who played?
« on: October 15, 2008, 10:35:24 AM »
Probably not the right gang of people as most here have a massive mmpo background.

I started out gaming with Tactical Ops and quickly moved onto the back then newly released Half Life conversion Natural Selection.
I hopped on board in version 1.3, when phase gates teleported you when you merely hit your toe against them. Good times.

Bla, bla, bla yadda yadda. Lots of (in the end silly) updates, lots of idiots, game's forum being hacked and destroyed time and time again, etc, etc, etc. It stopped being fun.

They announced work on Natural Selection 2. Today I received an email from the NS2 team with this link:
http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/news/2008/10/unknown_worlds_videocast_5

It's been a while, but that does look sweet!

So basically I was just wondering if anyone else played Natural Selection and is looking forward to trying it again should NS2 every see the light of day.

Babblers ftw!

Warhammer Online / Anyone else got slapped by a CTD?
« on: October 14, 2008, 05:29:18 PM »
I patched yesterday and it seemed OK be it for the fact that I got stuck on a loading screen that simply wouldn't take me into the game.

Today the game patched again, enter the game on my DE Sorceress and poof. CTD.

They've been gone for so long... anyone else suffering from them again?

Warhammer Online / Make your character dizzy
« on: October 06, 2008, 07:34:42 PM »
So yeah, when I was spinning around to look at my Dark Elf Sorceress... I was just looking, honest... I was spinning her from left to right kind of fast. Suddenly she start panting.

So basically if you fling your characters really fast in the queue screen, they get sick.

Hey you got to do something while queueing.

The Dog & Duck / Crazy Swedes run rampant on UK motorway

I though us Dutchies were the only ones that had to deal with foreign drug crazy kids eating shrooms and jumping off builings killing themselves because they thought they could fly.

Yours seem to enjoy running into oncomin traffic on a motorway.  ???

Warhammer Online / Crafting - how does that work?
« on: September 28, 2008, 09:45:39 AM »
Alright... so is there a place where I can read up on crafting?

So far I've seen talisman making, scavenging, magical salvaging, apothecary...etc...

I'm wondering how many there are. And also, how it works.  ???

Warhammer Online / CE exclusive faces

What you think?

Not too impressed by them. Like the High Elf one though...
Dwarf is alright, although a bit silly for the female.

Think I'll stick with my nice eye scarred White Dwarf look for my engi!

I do appreciate the fact that you get CE items for all characters you create on your CE account.

Warhammer Online / Unboxing the CE
« on: September 25, 2008, 06:05:57 PM »
Got my box today.

The box itself is gorgeous. Will look great on any shelf. Sad part is that it was torn in two places. Bit of a downer.

Opening up there's the artwork book. Again gorgeous, but I feel a lot in there is available online... so not 'exclusive'.
Might be wrong though.

Next the comic book. Beautiful. Had a quick read, should be fun.

Both books are hardcover, look great.

Then the mouse mat. Bummer. Cheap flimsy and the colours are all off. It's a shade of beige and sparkly with coloured bits. Nothing like displayed online or on the flyer accompanying the CE.

Minitature. I have dwarfs bigger than that orc. Blister was torn. Stuff like this just decreases that 'ooh' and 'aah' feeling.

And last a sturdy disc box. Manual, two DVDs. The CD key is printed with a very readable font. So good job on that one!

All in all I'm a bit bummed by the light damage, broken blister and flimsy mousemat.
Books are lovely, box is gorgeous.

In-game items yet to be seen as I haven't registered my key yet. I saw a dwarf with a small barrel of Bugman's tied into his beard on the promo flyer that came with the box, which was rather characterful.

Worth buying? Yes.

Warhammer Online / Destruction guild
« on: September 25, 2008, 10:53:39 AM »
Anyone interested in forming the Destruction guild just for guild chat's sake?

Personally I'm not into THF as that guild still exists in WoW, but not too bothered if others want THF.

Or if it already exists, drop me an invite. u_u
