Tractor beams

Questions on tractor beams :)


1) Can tractor beams be used on non-locked targets?


2) How big targets can tractor beams be used on? Wrecks of any size?


3) Can tractor beams be used on "live" targets (say an operating hostile drone)?


4a) Can you move around with stuff dragged by tractor beams (say you have four tractor beams, grab four wrecks and move them to a spesific spot)?
4b) If yes, can you even warp with things towed (like for example warping to a station with stuff hauled with the tractor beams)?

No, only on locked targets;

Yes, they can tractor any type of wreck or un-anchored can including jetcans;

No, I really do wish that you could tractor enemies and use them as a sort of shield though!

Yes. Cannot warp, but can AB or MWD around using them to tow items;

1) no, they count as turrets and as such need an active lock.

2) not 100% sure but tractors come in small and capitol flavours so id imagine smalls have a limit as to what they can pull.

3)again NO they are for pulling wrecks/cans, not for interdiction purposes ;) thats the job of Webifiers/ Warp Disruptors etc.

4a)yes ,tractors pull at 500m/sec so as long as your not speeding away from wreck faster than this it will get to you (or allow you to position where you want).

4b)no, weapon locks are lost when you enter warp and as such tractors have nothing to pull without the active lock so are turned off.

Thanks Beo and Caradir :)  Planning for my life when I have the Harpy at hand, I intend to turn my Dessie to a tractor-beaming salvager. Seems I need to get my Targeting skill up though, or else there is not much use on fitting more than 1 beam and 3 salvagers I guess   :-\
