mckellen has just done a charity appeal on tv very recently he was sporting a gandalf beard a short one but it looks to be getting there :)

apparently to flesh out the story for 2 movies they are including the white councils assault on the Necromancer at Dol Guldur as part of the films, which happens at the same time in tolkien timeline (i.e. when Gandalf leaves them in Mirkwood thats where he was going.

Cool - would be great.

Kinda hoping they go lotro style and have some of the gandalf+thorin stuff and history of Erebor too thrown in.
