Just thought I'd post up a quick question for those in the know (I'm looking at you Garry :P) about LI's.
Kurtt is still weilding the Legendary Halberd he got from thelvl 45 quest. Nothing I've looted or bartered for since has come close to the stats and legacies on my first Halberd. Same goes for my Captain's Emblem.
Is this normal? I'm currently 54, and I at least thought I'd see some shiny new upgrades by now.
Whats the deal? Were my starting LI's insanely good, or is everything else insanely bad? Plus, I'd really love to use a Greatsword, but all the ones I get are crap by comparison.
-
one word .... luck
weapons though id have thought youd have upgraded after all a lvl 55 halberd/or 2hander sword (you do know that captain trainers now give us our +2% halberd damage passive) no matter how crappy the legacies will have better dps than the lvl 50 one you got for doing the intro to legendaries q. The emblem isnt so needed to upgrade as the differences with level are not as noticable.
took me an age to get the ones i liked, was very lucky with my 1st age.If you like ill trade in my tablets as they are no use to me and ill post on what i think has possibilities ;)
remember just because it may not look great when first identified doesnt mean it cant/wont be.

That'd be awesome cheers dude.
I have trained the +2% Halberd skill, but am planning in taking the +2% swords man trait.
Will try to trade in some more Dwarf tools for 55's and see what I get.
-
Cheers for that dude.
I'm on my crappy lappy at the office, and its just booted me. Wasn't being ignorant :D

I have spent about 1 gold on weapons for under level 60 which did cost less than 90 silver. Ie I've got a few, but won't get many more for a while as I am starting to actually run low on money (what with never getting any quests done as I have had to run back and forth the continent... argggghhhhh... and skirmishes don't actually provide money (the income from them cover the repairbills, but not much more). None of them had legacies even close to the dagger I got from the intro-to-Moria quest (the first reforging saw it get the Quick Knife devastation bonus prolonged, now at 47 seconds (ie 47 seconds after a devastate I get +20% positional damage and +10% critical damage, which is simply awesome; I seem to now run around most of the time with this buff, and *that* is awesome), base-DPS would be slightly higher (but I've spent most of my points on upping the DPS).
With the tools I have been much luckier. Saw somebody sell on AH for bid 100 silver (buyout 120 silver) tools for 57, they had been identified already and had legacies I like (huge incoming healing bonus, increased critical damage and extra pulse to Mischiveous Glee (the burg self heal). Will be a vast upgrade over the current tools, but I can live with these until 57.
Incidently, how does the regained exp (from a deconstructed item with exp-levels) with Heritage Rune work if the heritage rune would have enough exp to take the new item past level 10 (ie reforging)? Will the extra exp be lost, or is it applied anyway? If the exp from the Heritage Rune is lost, I guess the smart thing is to first level to 10 (won't take very long) and then apply the Rune, or?

if you get a rune say for 75000 and apply it to a new lvl 1 item what you would see is "reforge + 59500 XP" so after reforge it would then gain any levels it had xp for and even another reforge. When i got my 1st age halberd i deconstructed my 2nd age and got a 1250000 IXP rune which was an awesome start took it from lvl 1 to 40 straight out.

Had to try this yesterday (sadly didn't have much time to actually play (besides the game crashed when I was riding towards Mirobel, which surely was a sign I *really* need to head to bed :) ), but had a chance to play around with this). The Skirmish vendor who barters stuff for Legendaries has at sale these rune-thingies, IIRC about 275 or so skirmish points, which gives 60,000 item exp. I bartered for two of these, one for my weapon and one for my tools, and got both to above level 20. The system indeed automatically adds the remaining exp after the reforge, which is nice :)
Incidently, isn't the item exp-rune actually pretty cheap for what it does? Is there a catch I am missing? Of course, 60k exp is nice when in the range of levels around 20, but I guess it's peanuts when getting above level 30, am I right?
From the reforge I got to the tools increased Provoke, and I am happy; the tools are now actually pretty good (the tools still have three legacies I'd not ever (with these traits) spend points on, but they have now two good ones). I guess what Garry says above is true: "remember just because it may not look great when first identified doesnt mean it cant/wont be".
Not sure if the Provoke legacy boosts only the aggro of Provoke or if it also adds to damage (didn't actually check the tooltip yesterday ::) ), but I don't care, as I use Provoke a lot anyway. I have it traited, I feel it is very usable for its power cost (basically it is just an autoattack (but can open up the critical responses), but it's power cost is very low, and it does decent damage when hit from behind). I've found Provoke very usable even soloing when the other three "spammable" skills are on cooldown and the crit chain hasn't openened (as Provoke can open up the crit chain too), and in skirmishes it is very nice indeed to give aggro to the bannerguard (not to mention I use it in fellowships too, because if I don't open up with Provoke I seem to draw aggro even from level 60+ captains ( ;) ) when I get a lucky chain of crits... "Woah, devastating hit, oh crit again, oh poo, I have aggro!").

So, necro.
Say I find a sword or hammer etc that I can use on Beo.
I already have a sword with IXP, things slotted etc.
How would I go about switching IXP over/whatever and is there anyway to reclaim - even partially the legacies my current weapon has?
All the changes to the LI stuff since I first paid it attention are a but woosh, especially all the options the relic master (I think) offers... (like melding and stuff).

you can breakdown "old" legendaries, in fact thats part of the legendary grind.
best levels to do so are at 11,21,31,41,51,61
upon breakdown youll get an IXP rune and some settings, and maybe legendary fragments.
-
I can wait 4 levels then, hopefully i'll be out of this bloody cave by then.
-
it was Item level i was talking about you got that yeah?
you dont need to be level 61 :D :D

har har
wait a minute you are telling me your at level 57 and have NEVER broke down a legendary?
please tell me you have all your legendary slots full with "levelling" legendaries specifically for breakdown?
Only love that awesome legendary until you find a better one or actually spend time stripping and then adding teh abilities you want to it, until you then find that higher base level one ...and......... do it all again. And even when thats done you still need to level and breakdown as many as you can for fittings to combine to try and get those higher tier ones you really want.
that is how the legendary grind works babeh :S (one of the reason i started hating LOTRO)

Been breaking down ones I find and then mucking with the new interface to see what I can make, but not having followed LI much (given all the time I spent not liking Moria - it seemed pointless) I was just wondering about it in general.
Got 4 out of 6 slotted for exp, I did do that at least :) Would have them all, but dont get many tools or that other item you can trade for them, and I never get guardian stuff as drops.
Right now, Im more concerned that some of my kill deeds for moria need ramping up, and fuck staying here longer than necessary...
