Hisec Player Owned Station
« on: December 14, 2008, 07:26:09 PM »
I shall be using Mangala to setup an alt corporation with Standings to both the Caldari State (8.0 at least) and Amarr Empire (5.0, nearing 6.0) in order for us to be able to setup a Hi-sec space POS or two for the purposes of Materials & Time Research on Blueprint Originals & Copies. (Trying this in regular stations in Hisec is akin to finding the proverbial needle in the haystack).

The involved setup costs for the corp, the pos(es) and a couple of months worth of fuel will be happily met by me. I see this as a worthy investment so I dont mind, and plus, I am sure I can do some ice mining with Thera for the right isotypes to keep the thing(s) running for a while and keep costs down.

An Alliance will follow in order to allow people in Ma'adim with the correct skills and such to utilise the POS for research.

I am currently reading up all the information I can find on these from running costs to exactly what else apart from research they can be used for. I will continue to build this post and thread overall as I get the info understood in my mind.

Should I go the route of allowing alts into the corp to use the POS to research and so on then this is the best plan to follow:

1) Choose Caldari
2) Choose Achura
3) Choose any gender
4) Assign stats to +3 int , +2 mem
5) Choose Inventors
6) Choose Industry
7) Choose Engineer
8.) Choose Entrepreneur
9) Make your pretty picture

You should now have the following relevant skills by default:
Laboratory Operations V (Control 6 slots)
Research III (15% bonus to research production efficiency speed)
Science III (15% faster copying time, also pre-requisite skill)

Thus far, we have needed zero training time, and have been born with 802,000 skill points. After this, you will need to purchase the following skills, or obtain from the local market when you arrive in whatever system the station is in.

Corporation Management - 10,000 isk(/yellow]
Scientific Networking – 6.75m isk
Metallurgy – 315,000 isk

Do the skill training in this order:

For those who want to maximise Alt efficiency, you can purchase the Advanced Laboratories skill for 20 million isk, and within a further 24 hours you will be able to run a further 3 lab slots (or 9 in total)

Two questions:

1. Moon reactions or is that lo-sec/0.0 only?

2. How does this 'reasearch' work; is it for creating T2 BPOs from T1 BPOs?

Research improves the quality of your BPOs so they require fewer minerals, generally increasing profit margin.  Invention uses datacores and T1 BPCs to give you a chance at producing limited run T2 BPCs.

Moon Reactions, 0.3 and under including 0.0.

Research - for improving bpo's and copying to create good bpc's.

As Jeremiah says Invention uses bpo/bpc and datacores fo T1 stuff. This can be done at hisec pos'es though too :)

try : http://www.eve-guides.com/ittey/index.php

Your own lab isn't really necessary for invention : there aren't any queues for inventing spaces.

The biggest overhead with a POS is more maintainance - they need refueling.
Which also means hauling the fuel between the station(s) and the POS itself.

If we have people that can lay a cyno - then I'm happy to jump between the fuel dump station and the POS.
I would need to check range - but I have jump drive calibration at lvl 5.

It'll still need all the POS fuel being brought to the dump station.

Useful point there Rub - important for a lowsec pos ofc as we could in theory move the stuff into an entry system by freighter and then trade to you and then the carrier cyno's off to the lowsec pos system :)

Any hisec pos and its just straight hauling - frieghter work to the system, and itty V or Badger II work to the POS itself (no cyno's in hisec)

I have a little more cleaning up to do with Red but expect an app to the Corp any day.

Freighters can unload in space now.

Ive been reading up on hisec POS. What about the issue of various faction / corps Wardecing the corp just to enable them to attack/destroy generally cause a nuisance with the POS. Yeah I know that they can't bring Dreads etc into hisec to attack it but with enough BS etc it could still be an issue. My understanding is that if the Wardec'd us first then the local law enforcement would not step in to help protect the POS. Are we in a position to be able to protect a POS at this stage?

Just a few noobish questions for you old timers to answer  ;D
As ive found every day in this game each question i answer raises three more  ::)

You get 24 hours notice of an impending war, which given Im usually on EVE in one form or another is plenty of time :)

Gives you time to quickly offline and remove the pos, or offline its useful modules and turn it into a deathstar pos with hardeners galore for resistance, ecm batteries, webs and lots of bloody lasers :D
