im fine on full in scenerios and solo pve

Yeah with that setup you should be running well in all situations. I can't understand why you only lag in Avelorn then.   :-[ Very strange.

Bloody hell :o

The most ive ever done in a TA is 130K healing and that was when i was literally the only healer on Order side and i was provided with some protection so i didnt have to run away much. 177k healing thats quite some stat.

What cpu's, os and ram are you guys using?

There's alot of information out there stating that this game is very heavy on your cpu's whilst leaving alot of spare power available on your gpu.
I have two friends who both run 8800GT's with completely different results.

One has an AMD Athlon x2 6000+ 3.1 Ghz cpu and he is fine on max settings for solo and small group and just has to knock a few bits out for large scale PvP.  I believe he sets spell effect to self only and turns off things like shadows, reflections and grass.
The other runs an AMD Athlon x2 4200+ 2.2 Ghz and he can only use mid settings for solo and small group whilst large scale PvP is a slide show for him even with settings set to minimum.
They both have the same systems apart from the processor, and both use xp pro 32bit with 2g of corsair 667mhz ram.

I know exactly where you are coming from.
Im currently on keyboard number 3 (and mouse number 2) of the year so far.

Keyboard number 1 died as a result of an argument with No:2 son (aged 22 months). I had placed it on the floor whilst cleaning my desk and he decided to use it as a spring board in an attempt to jump over my back. 500 piece keyboard puzzle anyone?

Keyboard number 2 kicked the bucket after an unfortunate incident involving a mug of coffee, a chocolate hobnob and being distracted by a certain female kicking ass in tombraider on TV. Biscuit dunked in coffee whilst watching lara - dunked in to far and fingers went in as well- hand pulled out quick before fingers blistered- hand catches lip of mug - mug tips over & keyboard drowns.

Number 3 has so far lasted 6 weeks and counting so im hopefull it will make it to xmas at least.

As for the mouse.....umm well lets just say in a fight a microsoft optical wheel mouse loses against a dyson upright hoover every time  ::)

I hate the ticket system with a passion.

Ticket an hour ago - not even an email response ingame or outofgame.

How the hell can I move a small handful of people to where they should be if trying so ingame doesnt work :S

Have you tried waiting till they are online and one at a time kicking them from the guild the re-inviting and promoting? Worth a shot and probably quicker than waiting on a ticket.

General Gaming / Re: What other MMO's have you played?
« on: October 12, 2008, 02:51:27 PM »
Hmmm, a total list of mmo's ive played over the years.

Well lets see. I started with a Little one that was produced by one guy on his own. The game was Xenimus and the guy was E.J. Thayer.
:o scarey that i can remember that after all this time. My main character was called Gaspode (cleric) and he was in the top 10 high level characters on the game for quite some time.  I eventually got fed up with him and gave him away to an online friend and i think he got passed around a number of people who used and abused his poor little lizard body. Ive no idea if the game or the character even exist any more.
Then i moved on to DAoC where my main was a bard.  Loved the game and still have lots of fond memorys of running around with my group of mates.
After that i took a small break though i still continued to play a game called planetarion (or similar). manys the night i set my alarm clock to 2 or 3 am just so i could get up and either start an attack or see the results of one i had set off earlier.
Then i managed to get a Beta place in WoW where i leveled an elf hunter. When the game went live i leveled a number of characters and played the game up until about 8 months ago. At the end I had level 70's of Rogue, Ferral Druid (elf) - hunter, warrior (dwarf) - warlock, paladin (human) and  shaman, warrior (orc). I played over two servers  (Balnazar & Dunemall) and had two WoW accounts.
I gave those accounts to my niece (whom still plays them i believe) and moved to LoTRo.
I stayed with that for about 3 months until i got bored then purchased AoC when that came out.
AoC = bug city and on the full PvP servers i played on it was a complete gankfest. needless to say i jumped at the chance to get in Warhammer Beta.
Ive played the Warhammer tabletop game on and off for 15 years or more ( i still have a 12000 point fully painted dwarf army and 7000 point fully painted dark elf army in my loft somewhere).
So far so good.  Yes there are teething issues with Warhammer but I work on the premise of giving it 12 months for a game i like the look of.  And so far so good.

So there you have it, my views of taxation now, and taxation in the future. I am open to arguments for differing amounts, after all even a despot needs advice from time to time...

scratch advice and replace it with deposed, beaten with a big stick until breathing stops, placed into a vat of acid, all metal objects(fillings, rings belt buckles etc) strained out, and finally the remains washed into the nearest sewer.

Crank it up to 10% even that amount isnt going to be noticable. After all its not as if cash is hard to come by in this game.

Warhammer Online / Out of it for a week or two
« on: October 06, 2008, 07:10:36 AM »
Sorry folks but my trusty old PC finally gave up the ghost last night. >:(
So whilst im without a games machine ive taken the opportunity to change my Inet provider as well. ;D
I hope to be back up and running on or about 13th of October. At the rate we are going i guess that will put me about 10-15 ranks behind the rest of you. :-[ Oh well such is life.
Ill keep an eye on the boards from my laptop.
For those of you interested this was the final spec i went for.

 EDITED

As a number of people expressed an interest.

Here's the final spec i actually ordered.  This spec does work very well as ive loaded War up onto it this afternoon and im currently running it at 1248 x 1024 with all setting maxed and im getting 53 - 62 fps in altdorf, PQ's and soloing and 49-57 fps in TA with approx 20 players in there. If i turn off a couple of bits like grass and reflections it seems to be staying steady in the 55 - 60 fps band no matter where i am.  Ive yet to try it in a large PvP area with 40+ players but ill let you know how it copes with that.

The spec?

AMD AM2 + Phenom 9950+quad core 2.6ghz 4mb cache

Gigabyte Ga-MA770-DS3 AM2+ DDR2 1066 motherboard (not crossfire or sli capable) - I read numerous reviews on this board and they all described it as a sturdy reliable board that has lots of overclocking capability.

Corsair 4x2gb ddr2 800 ram

Seagate 360gb sataII HD 7200 rpm 8mb cache - This is purely my boot hd and will have nothing on it but windows etc.

Maxtor 500gb sataII 32mb cache 7200rpm HD - This is my game drive.

Nvidia 9800GTX+ 512mb PCI-E DVI. - speaks for itself.  very fast and powerfull and handles the game very well when combines with the quad core processor.

samsung 20x sata dvdrw lightscribe

Logitec keyboard / optical mouse and speaker set

windows vista home premium 64bit

netlynx pci 54g wireless adaptor

2 year rtb (parts and labour warranty)

This entire package was delivered less than 50 hrs after ordering and came to £719.75 including VAT and free courier delivery.

A very nice little deal.  Yes theres better out there (including what i was going to pay £1500.00 for in the first place (until the wife said no way), but i dont think i could get a much better deal for the money.
