Warhammer Online / Karak Hirn is being closed.
« on: March 07, 2009, 07:47:58 PM »
Word up folks that might still want to play WAR. Karak-Hirn is being closed due to low pop and free transfers to other servers is open. Myself, I have moved with my new guild to Karak-Azgal and what a difference. Suddenly T3 is hoaching with groups raiding Keeps and doing scenarios that werent there a few weeks ago. Didn't realise how bad the population had gotten.

Anyway just to keep those interested in the loop.

Warhammer Online / So long..
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:46:31 PM »
Well I've up and joined the Relaxed Mercenaries. It's been fun guys and I may still lurk the boards to see whats up and have a laugh in the Off topic forum if thats OK.

Anyway they seem to be quite active but not OTT obsessed so suits me. Hopefully they'll be a good crowd like the HOJ guys have been.

Cheers.

Warhammer Online / My Biggest fear...
« on: January 09, 2009, 06:22:33 PM »
I had hoped WAR wouldnt end up like most other MMO's I'd played but low and behold it's followed suit and myself a slow leveller due to family and time am left wandering the wastelands of the lower tiers. I havent seen another player in ages. But they must be about cos the keeps swap hands fairly regularly.

I had the same issues in LOTRO too, I could never find anyone to do the Story Chapters which all needed groups as I started late in that game. In the end I gave up.

Just find it annoying that a casual player like myself can rarely get to enjoy a keep attack or a decent public quest anymore as I'd need to sit about for hours to get a group or some such.

Anyway reckon I'll concentrate on levelling and just skip worrying about Reknown rank and PQ Influence. I can always go back and do the PQs later. I want to get up where the action is and that seems to be Tier 4.

Though I havent seen many guildies on of late either. Where is everyone? (though that could be cos I never manage on at weekends maybe I just miss everyone as I'm on when they're off).

Warhammer Online / Absence
« on: December 18, 2008, 07:17:19 PM »
Not been on for several days and may be a bit longer, personal crisis at home right now so not feeling very sociable or having the time. Might not be back until after Christmas now but I will definately be back once things calm back down. Though if things perk up sooner I may be back before then or possibly just for very short spells to see whats happening.

General Gaming / COD5 Zombies
« on: December 07, 2008, 08:26:11 PM »
So who's got Call of duty World at War and have you played the Zombie bonus level?

Flippin ace fun when you do it 4 player co-op online. Keeps distracting me from WAR.

Look out for Axealt, yes I couldn't think of a good name so why not just highlight he's my "alt" character instead. Hopefully someone with the authority can invite him to the guild. On right now.

Warhammer Online / Heavy Metal run out of ideas??
« on: November 26, 2008, 05:41:03 PM »
One of the new "events" is do 3 PQ stages but we had that one already, seems a cop out to me. Especially at my level cos nobodies doing them I had to go back and do lower level ones to have any hope.

Now go to try and find 5 quick quests I can do but no chance I can get the 15 RvR kills cos I'm still T2 and nobody seems to be doing that either. This is where the population thing starts to rear it's head if your behind the maind body.

Had the same issues in LOTRO cos I joined that late and hardly anyone about doing the early chapters to group with.

Warhammer Online / HELP need level 25 seeds
« on: October 15, 2008, 12:26:37 PM »
I have a need, a need for seeds.

Please any non cultivators that get level 25 seed drops I'd much appreciate if you could donate them my way please.

Not interested in anything higher than that as I have tons of level 50 and 75's but can't get of level 38 in my skill cos I have no 25's to do it with.

Anyway will result in me getting to the point I can make decent heal and buff potions sooner if I can get myself levelling in this again.

Cheers.

Warhammer Online / Few days break
« on: October 13, 2008, 06:01:02 PM »
Wasn't on at the weekend and likely wont be for the rest of this week, have a loan of a few Xbox 360 games from a mate and as I usually on get 1 to 2 hours per night to myself I'm best to play those this week. That and I have ebay listings to sort out. Just in case you think I've vanished.

Though if I can get the odd 20 minutes here or there to just do some quests then I might get on.

General Gaming / What other MMO's have you played?
« on: October 10, 2008, 03:01:01 PM »
It came up last night in our Sewers group and lead me to wondering, what other MMO's have folks played?

I myself have been on the following:

Star Wars Galaxies longest runner to date, over 2 years largely due to all my real life mates playing so we would all go one skype and laugh and chat while we played. In the end we all packed it in after they changed the entire game yet again. Having spent months working the path to Jedi they suddenly made it so anyone could play Jedi from level 1 and in disgust we all cancelled.

Eve, I got talked into this but never really saw the point. Nice enough game but seemed over the top you had to pay to play it. Especially as a lot of it could be done without even being at the machine. Maybe lasted 3 months here.

World of Warcraft, likely at the moment my second longest run on a MMO. Did a longish spell then quit for about a year, then re-subbed when the first expansion came out, lasted perhaps 6 months before I got annoyed with it again and quit for the second time. Stands as the only game I've quit twice.

Lord of the Rings Online, liked this one but got a bit bored of the same monsters and lack of the real epic feel lasted about 4 months. Was tempted to go back if Warhammer hadn't come out.

Pirates of the Burning Sea, oh what a mistake that was, pretty much did my 30 days. Enjoyed the game when it would work but chronic Lag during boarding actions put me off in the end as it was unplayable. Considering this was instanced solo fights with no other players too and yet WAR I can be at a keep with loads of folks on screen and still play. Nice concepts in the game though but in the end the poor coding put me off.

Outwith paid for I have been in a few Beta's too. Nice cos I'd get passed the novelty stage of the game to see if I liked it and in the end would find I wasn't that hooked so saved me wanting them.

Auto Assault, just didn't work for me.
City of Heroes, fun to start with but got repetitive
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, to be fair never actually planned to get this just got a chance to play in the beta so thought it would be fun (it wasn't).

Lastly and before all of the above I played on a rather unique NeverWinter Nights server. It was a persistent set of servers one run by a bank of machines in a guys garage in America, the world evolved and they even built a mod for crafting, long before I had even heard of MMO's (thought they were around). Designed for folks to roleplay but had some brilliant stories develop run by live guys acting as GM's and an ongoing war between 2 factions. They also added content on a hugely regular basis and had more species as playable than any MMO I've seen. Not bad for guys purely funded by non compulsory player donations.

Anyway that's the lot.

Warhammer Online / Phoenix Gate
« on: October 09, 2008, 07:19:04 AM »
So anyone played this scenario and had it end by score before the timer runs out?

So far played it umpteen times and it always goes down to the clock ticking down.

Have to say I only play defensive being an Engi as I see it better to defend with my turret and ability to buff the damage from the seige engines.

But so far I've only played one game where I saw any strategy from the enemy (being defensive I've never even been across the river) where they rushed the head on with the majority meanwhile a smaller group slipped in the side and made off with the flag.

Every other game though they just seem to try a head on run past the 3 war machines and pretty much get toasted, or get the flag and are toasted as they leave. Makes me wonder if Order are just as bad. Though to be fair I've been on the winning side more times than not in this scenario.

Once I hit level 17 and can buy instant build turrets from my mastery I'll start going on the offensive as I can throw up turrets whereever needed. I may even go back to trying Stonetroll too.

Anyway just wondered what other folks experience was.

Warhammer Online / Doing Quest Lower than your Level
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:36:47 AM »
SO last night having hit a wall in the Dwarf Zones, finding the Chapter 8 quests a bit hard as only just level 15 (lot of level 18 mobs). While I could deal with them eventually as an engineer I found it a bit hard and if anything else appeared or someone dragged something past that then latched on I was gubbed.

So I took some advice from the strategy guid book and set out for the Elf chapter 5 stuff in the Shadowlands.

Ideal, OK so lucky if I get 36xps per kill of the level 11 mobs but being so easy to paste and having tiny threat cricles due to the level difference I was able to gobble up about 10 quests in a short space of time and most had rewards of about 2500 xps. Now thats a good xps to time ratio in my mind last night for little effort. Especially as I spent a chunk farting about and also doing a scenario but I still got to halfway to level 16 in less than about an hour.

Anyway out tonight but plan to do more tomorrow in the shadow lands, ideally I want to be level 18 before I head back and do the chapter 8 stuff in the MoM.

Anyway just thought a useful tip for any lower levels folks about doing the other areas quests. Can only think that I need to spend more time grinding PQ's in future to make sure I dont start getting behing myself on levels. Just used to from other games using the quests as a guide to moving on to the next area but I'll need to be more careful in future.

Warhammer Online / Easy XPs
« on: October 03, 2008, 12:32:26 PM »
Last night found the best quest ever, Wight woman floating around the MoM near the chapter 6 PQ with the rock lobbers and the big orky totem, in the swampy bit with big trees down the hill (from where you have to kill beardripper a  quest). She ask you to find her body, it was pretty much right next to her hanging from a tree, grab the ring turn round and give it to her, netted over 2k xps for about 30 seconds of effort and a nice 30 min buff to all my stats. ;D
