Heavy Metal Event
« on: November 13, 2008, 02:32:31 PM »
So the Heavy Metal event is coming soon - Mon 17th Nov it's due to start.
For those that don't know - gaining Max Inf will allow you to roll the new char at the end of the event for a full week before they are available to the general population.
Generally they'll be available around the 7th December I think.

As part of the event - each day you'll have a quest to perform in addition to the other PQ's that will be happening around Reikland Factory in, umm, the T4 Reikland zone.
The Quests and factory will be available to all ranks and it sound like they have special instances based on rank going on - sort of like a cross-rank Gunbad from what I can image.

From what I've read Reikland may turn into a persistent dungeon some time after the event.

So what do you think? Gonna go for the top prize? Think it'll be fun?

I'll give it a crack, I don't hold out much hope for it being great (honestly I can do without more scenarios!) and I don't have any interest in playing a KotBS. I hope to see it prompt some RvR participation, but only time will tell on that point. That was the best thing about the Witching Night event - the RvR PQ (when people actually played it).

Order Torgal / Allein / Iapetus / Mellir / Ganymede
Destruction Stikklebrix / Mimas

Tempted, very tempted, but then again having the experience of a KotBS when it goes live for all could be better and more suiting of my nature maybe

well... taking the piss, shutting down the server for maintenance at 11, now i can forget the whole HM thing   >:(

so stupid you have to attend every day for the first half of the event... esp when they think i care if the streets are swept or not...
'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

They've changed the rules and tasks for previous days have opened up - so no worries if you've missed one.

Love this feature - makes particpating much more likely on my part.  Still go to do 2 of the current 3 RF daily's plus one to complete all of a PQ (Close to that :D). Then i can see what tomorrow brings.

From the Mythic US Site:

Quote
You may have already noticed that we have opened up the last 7 events for the Heavy Metal Event so you can take part in them all, at your leisure, over the extended Thanksgiving Holiday.  We want everyone to have a chance to unlock the Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun. You can now finish the event and redeem the Heavy Metal Chest from a Herald.  When you redeem the chest, it is important that you open (right click) the chest so that you become eligible to play the classes a week earlier than everyone else.  If you qualify through the Heavy Metal event, the Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun will become playable next week when we do the 1.0.6 patch.

See you in the WAR!

1.0.6 Next Week!
KotBS next Week!

Sweet - although I share Axe's concern from his thread about them not being unique everyday :)

Yay finished it tonight, skipped the 15 open RVR kills but as had been highlighted still lets you finish even 1 quest down so now get my chance to be KOTBS.

Nice. Plus was a fun change from the norm.

Ooo - a race!?!

How about a little wager?

Say 5g per entry? Each person interested in rolling a KotBS or an IB (we need more high level tanks).

The Guild will put in 40g.
Each contestant will put 5g into the pot (to be deposited into the Guild Vault before the start).

The prizes are the following:
15% of the pot for the first to hit Rank 10
15% of the pot for the first to hit Renown Rank 10

15% of the pot for the first to hit Rank 20
15% of the pot for the first to hit Renown Rank 20

15% of the pot for the first to hit Rank 30
15% of the pot for the first to hit Renown Rank 30

Rules:
New Characters only - to join the guild at Rank 1.  Your money for the pot is due when you join the guild - so transfer the gold to your char and drop it into the mail to Beosvir.
Guild News page will be used to assess when the char reaches the required level - first name on the list gets the prize for that rank.
Prizes will be issued immediately on achieving the rank by an Officer.
Everybody is welcome to participate (we need more tanks at all levels).

The competition starts as soon as the new classes arrive in the 1.0.6 patch.
