Warhammer Online / Re: Scenario Teamplay - Calculating contribution
« on: October 31, 2008, 03:55:54 PM »
This is my core point for this thread...        The difference between doing something with measurable contribution and doing something that might win you the game...

(...)

Are you like me?      Do you do everything in those 15 minutes to maximise your DPS or to do as much healing as possible?
1) I do not know how exactly is contribution calculated, but judging from my experience, it goes beyond pure damage and healing done and somehow does include buffs, debuffs, shields, rezzes etc.

2) I do not care about contribution and try to play as i see fit for the situation.

The mirror classes are not exactly mirror.
If i understand correctly, the base of IBs "grudge" mechanics is damage taken.
Judging by the description, BGs "fury" mechanics may be based on damage done (to one target  ???).

Zealots have more offensive debuffs, while RPs have better defensive buffs.

Order needs more tanks, says Mythic and i agree. Our front lines are weak to non-existant. Having more tanking classes may improve the situation, provided not all KotBS are re-rolled SMs.

Yesterday, i queued for 4 T4 scenarios - all available at lvl 30 except Serpents Passage. Then i joined Gunbad wb and forgot about it. An hour later, i realised i was still queued for all 4 and hadn't got any pop up. Speaking about fun from rvr T3 > T4 atm, applies to both scenarios and orvr.

The only HoT that Valaya affects is Rune of Mending, in fact it's the only heal that's affected unless you consider our shield, which I personally don't use so much.
Guys, dont underestimate shields in RvR. There will be alot of healing debuffs flying around in the endgame and shields are unaffected by those debuffs, afaik.

I've paid online without problems ... have you already paid with that card online? You can have that type of payments disabled by default, some issuers do it (since "transactions without physical card presence" are more risky than standard payments).

Yeah, was great fun! And order finally learning how to defend a keep against superior numbers  :o

I think that 100 RP reward when you're near a keep under attack (according to my experience, you just have to be in the area, not needed to be in combat or so) is more frequent than that. I would say every minute or two. Also, i got 1490 RP for keep capture, dunno if it's new. Add 2x 400 RP for BO capture and i finally see renown from ORvR slowly catching up with scenarios.

I agree that heal crit is probably better than willpower. AMs can get some additional effects from heal crit (AP regen), dont know about other classes.

About magic damage taken - magus spells deal spirit and elemental damage, sorceress seems to have mostly corporeal and some spirit damage spells. Don't know their spell rotations but i would be curious if anyone has some breakdown?

Using the link posted above, i had a quick look on those guilds' members. Both Black Regiment and Cry Havoc seem to be light on healers and okey-ish on tanks. Black Regiment is very heavy on WHs, Cry Havoc has lotsa BWs and also a number of IBs. Their size and average member lvl seem to match ours pretty well. The Sylvan Blades is quite bigger that us and they have several lvl 40 players already. On the other hand they seem to have better balanced career setup.

Warhammer Online / Re: Archmagi and Rune Priests - the lowdown
« on: October 15, 2008, 09:31:01 AM »
Lot of valid and interesting ideas here. Also, there are many similar posts on archmage forums on warhammeralliance.

My POV:
- Archmages are forced into healing primarilly because there is usually low number of healers. In few scenarios, i was the sole healer (or with one more WP) doing over 100k healig.

- Our damage output even if fully specced / geared seems too low. We lack burst single target damage. Medium aoe damage incl. DoTs spamming is nice for puting pressure on opponent's healers but needs to be part of a larger picture.

- Almost noone speaks about debuffs because they don't show on score table. We can (if properly specced) decrease damage output by lets say 10% and increase damage taken by few per cent at the same time in a small area ... but ppl look at damage and healing done. When have i last seen fire cage in a scenario?

- High Magic concept is flawed and really needs an overhaul.

Your point about the lower HPS is valid though, it is fairly inefficient to keep single targets up with group targeted heals. It's not so bad though, just tends to lead to a bit of AP starvation if you're constantly casting. It's a shame that you can't use the old favourite cast/cancel healing method if you want to regen AP.
I was speaking about 3+ targets taking damage ... and 2-3 healers in the group not a single one ... lets say you mix 3 tanks + 1 WP + 2 AM / RP and you have 4 targets probably taking some damage with 3 healers who can group heal. Plus WP can use single target heals if one target takes significantly more damage than others. IMO the most important point is that healers are not interrupted downstairs. Those 3secs single target heals are nice but take 6+ secs to get off when the healer is taking damage, plus the hero has aoe knockback which interrupts casting completely.

Efficiency / healing throughput:
AM group heal: 1125 / 3sec / 45 AP -> 375 HPS / 25 HPAP
AM single target heal: 540 / 3sec / 65 AP
2 targets -> 360 HPS / 17 HPAP
3 targets -> 540 HPS / 25 HPAP
4 targets -> 720 HPS / 33 HPAP

HPS = healing per second
HPAP = healing per action point

Morale: i would prefer lvl3 morale grp shield instead of single target heal. And i would try to pre-cast it just before the "pull".

However, you are aware that AoE heals don't need line of sight, right? As long as you are within 150 feet, be it upstairs, downstairs or same level, behind a wall or in plain sight, you are healed.
Hmm ... you sure? Bcs in that case, put together 2 groups with healers and tanks, let tanks and WPs charge up and have all ranged healers stand on the ground floor spamming group heals...

@Warcold: balcony vs charge up
Well, balcony is a good idea if you don't have destro around, only NPCs. Otherwise, you first need to fight your way through the destro group blocking the top of stairs. That is the main problem. Even if few ppl manage to get to the balcony, destro will take care of them swiftly, before any rezzing can take place. With destro blocking top of stairs, you need somehow to blast a hole into their wall so that as many as possible ppl get to the upper floor, with tanks and heavy dps getting priority. Destro will, most probably, try to run back to close the gap immediately. Use aoe to bring da pain to the overcrowded area at the top of stairs. This could work in theory...

I believe keeps are made on purpose so that a relatively small group (lets say one warbad) can defend the keep practically against any number of attackers. Just keep the bottleneck blocked.

Increase to 5% today when I log in shortly.

This will last till I return from from upcoming vacation to Iceland.
You sure you didn't want to increase tax rate BEFORE going to spend your vacation in ICELAND?  ;D

I think that converting a party to a warband switches off buff checks and has, at least for me, a noticeable impact on performance improvement.
