I'm tempted to get one for the wench for xmas - but I've never used one myself.

Worth it?

YES

whilst a lot of the games are nothing to write home about graphically they more than make up for in the fun and playability stakes plus ive personally never known gaming to be more sociable, grab a wii lots of booze and willing subjects.

Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

I consider the wii to be a social gaming apparatus. If you spend most of your time on your own or with just two people, I wouldn't bother. If you regularly have friends over, then yes.

Yes it's fun at first, but in the end all the games aren't about the game, they're about using the remote.

Sold mine almost immediately after buying it. Big plus was that you can play NES and SNES Mario using Wii points. That was fun.

Aye - that's what I'm worried about.  We both tend to work very late - the wench especially (she often gets home around 10pm and leaves many times early).

I'm annoyed that none of the consoles have a PVR upgrade that has a Digitial TV receiver and allows pausing of live TV.

We've had a Wii (our first game console) for nearly a year. It is simply great :)  Kids and their friends seem to love the games. and for us adults the games are very nice too. I think especially Mario Kart Wii is a damn excellent game :)

* Beosvir must locate his Wiicode, pass it to Jarkko and then beat him horribly at this game.

I've not played online, so would be great to try that out :)  We have four driving wheels though, so even the "local" matches get pretty hectic at times :)

Instant win at boxing:

Stick your elbows out, hands towards eachother and circle your hands over eachother. Like rolling up yarn, punching one of them little floppy boxing balls or giving someone a really oily handjob without the squeezing.

Rotate once every second - 2 seconds.

I love my Wii. I'm currently enjoying Lego Batman, which I picked up for 21 quid in Woolies closing down sale ;D Great game.

Also, the Wii Fit ain't bad. Wifey insists its going to be her losing weight tool for after the baby is born :)
