Improved Cloaking Device II will take a bit under a week to learn the skills for. But the point is that I'd go for Electronics V anyway (which is the one that will take time), so taking Cloaking on top of that will be easy to do :)

On a tech 2 ship like the basilisk would adding rigs be as bad an idea as adding them to cheeper t1 ships?

No.

Rigs on T2 ships are a great thing, they add to the the utility rather than make it an expensive target.

I thought I would add rigs, but have to look at what would be required. I'd guess something increasing CPU or decreasing cap recharge rate would be smart? Anyway, the limiting factor is my shitty Jury Rigging skill (at a whoopin level I atm), but luckily it would take only a few hours to get that to III.

Btw, I bought an Osprey yesterday, then later noticed I actually had one in hangar already  :-X  I prolly had taken it from the corp hangar at some point for mining, so I returned it back there :)

Here is my current plan for becoming somewhat reasonable Basilisk pilot:

Quote
Skill plan for Swuul

1. Energy Systems Operation III (35 minutes, 20 seconds; Finish: 29.1.2009 9:29:16)
2. Energy Grid Upgrades III (6 hours, 39 minutes, 50 seconds; Finish: 29.1.2009 16:09:07)
3. Energy Grid Upgrades IV (1 day, 13 hours, 41 minutes, 59 seconds; Finish: 31.1.2009 5:51:07)
4. Energy Systems Operation IV (18 hours, 50 minutes, 59 seconds; Finish: 1.2.2009 0:42:06)
5. Energy Management IV (2 days, 1 hour, 29 minutes, 51 seconds; Finish: 3.2.2009 2:11:58)
6. Signature Analysis IV (18 hours, 50 minutes, 59 seconds; Finish: 3.2.2009 21:02:57)
7. Signature Analysis V (4 days, 10 hours, 37 minutes, 50 seconds; Finish: 8.2.2009 7:40:48)
8. Long Range Targeting III (6 hours, 39 minutes, 50 seconds; Finish: 8.2.2009 14:20:39)
9. Long Range Targeting IV (1 day, 13 hours, 41 minutes, 59 seconds; Finish: 10.2.2009 4:02:38)
10. Long Range Targeting V (8 days, 21 hours, 15 minutes, 41 seconds; Finish: 19.2.2009 1:18:20)
11. Caldari Cruiser V (23 days, 16 hours, 14 minutes, 20 seconds; Finish: 14.3.2009 17:32:40)
12. Logistics I (53 minutes, 25 seconds; Finish: 14.3.2009 18:26:05)
13. Logistics II (4 hours, 8 minutes, 47 seconds; Finish: 14.3.2009 22:34:53)
14. Logistics III (23 hours, 27 minutes, 11 seconds; Finish: 15.3.2009 22:02:04)
15. Electronics IV (18 hours, 50 minutes, 59 seconds; Finish: 16.3.2009 16:53:04)
16. Electronics V (4 days, 10 hours, 37 minutes, 50 seconds; Finish: 21.3.2009 3:30:55)
17. Cloaking I (45 minutes, 32 seconds; Finish: 21.3.2009 4:16:27)
18. Cloaking II (3 hours, 32 minutes, 4 seconds; Finish: 21.3.2009 7:48:32)
19. Cloaking III (19 hours, 59 minutes, 34 seconds; Finish: 22.3.2009 3:48:06)
20. Logistics IV (5 days, 12 hours, 40 minutes, 28 seconds; Finish: 27.3.2009 16:28:34)
Notice that the times are local times, and also notice that the date system to express date up here is the German system  (day, month, year).

It means that I will be able to take the Basilisk out for a swing on March 14th, but will have reasonable skills to effectively use it on March 27th. If we go to Wormholes before 23rd I'd be a bit careful of where to use the bird, as before that I can't fit the T2 cloaking device. I am starting to get nightmares already now about losing the ship (50 million bird and who knows how much all the fitting and possible rigs will cost :P).

Seems to be same as I have then. My effective Intelligence is 24.84 and effective Memory 16.20 (the two attributes affecting the learning of Electronics), so I guess you have a bit lower Intelligence then?

Don't worry too much about the cloak - it's not really that important when you're in a group.
It will be needed when you start looking for WH's when in W-Space - just because if you're in system without the corp POS and you get visitors then it gives you a handy edge.

Electronics V is however a very handy skill generally to have.

Standard Low Skill Osprey Setup

High
    1x Large Shield Transporter I
1x Medium Shield Transporter I (only online with high skills)
1-2x Medium Remote Armor Repair System I (offline, optional)
0-1x Medium Remote Hull Repair System I (offline, optional)
Med
    1x Medium Capacitor Battery I
    3x Cap Recharger I
Low
    3x Capacitor Power Relay I

Drones
4x Light Armor Maintenance Bot I

With low skills just offline the medium shield transporter and use only the large. With electronics 5, energy grid upgrades 4, cap skills 4, cruiser 4, and shield emissions 3 you can online and run both the large and the medium.

To play 'space medic' or pit crew:

High
2x Medium Shield Transporter I (named)
1X Medium Energy Transfer Array (named)
1x Small Remote Hull Repair System I (offline)
Med
    1x 10MN Afterburner I
1x Medium Capacitor Battery I (named is better)
    2x Cap Recharger II
Low
    3x Capacitor Power Relay II
Drones
4x Light Armor Maintenance Bot I

Thanks Vac! That second one looks a bit like the setup I now have, except that I don't have Afterburner or Hull repair fitted. Need to look at those things tomorrow :)

Was decently easy to keep Hrodgars ships shields up earlier today (had just two medium shield reps then, as I got Energy Grid Upgrade to III after that) in a level 3 mission. With the above fitting I think it would be very easy indeed to help a friend through fire.

But now I am off to bed, actually quite tired already...

After lots of shuffling around (and spending LP to buy some new implants, plus a couple million ISK at Jita for some more T2 capacitor improving gear :) ), my Osprey is now capable of repairing remotely 768 shields per five seconds at a range of 50km, while staying cap-stable at around 25%. Last Sunday I was able to rep 372 per 5 seconds from 30km, so quite an improvement to that in my modest and humble opinion ;)  Also, the Osprey has an AB fitted, and can use it and rep for 384 shields per 5 seconds while staying cap stable.

This comes at a cost though. Can't rep any armour or transfer any cap at all :(  Then again, based on last Sundays experiences, it felt like Osprey really is intended for shield repping only. In fact, looking at the Osprey special abilities ("Special Ability: 20% bonus to mining laser yield per level. 10% bonus to capacitor use of shield transporters per level. 500% bonus to range of shield transporters." ie no bonus to armour rep or cap transfer), you don't have to be a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion :p

Also, I don't in fact use the Gistii small reppers that Red bought. I've dropped them to Corp hangar. Altough I did already tool around with a frigate who would be able to rep 200/5 sec with those, so if needed for small scale action (say, some mission where only frigates can enter or some such), then I'd be more than willing to try it out. I seem to enjoy myself keeping others up, altough I sorely need advice and experience how to keep myself up when I come under fire (currently the modus operandi when under fire is "Warp the hell out!" which I don't think is necessarily the best way to handle the situation).

:o wow, thats pretty, pretty good!

and about the tactic when under fire: not much what you can do yourself I think, its not like you got a shieldbooster installed or something... only things that i can think of:
- call out who aggro'd you (broadcast?) and hope your fleet will kill it asap
- second shield repper  :D
