It's an example of something I've been waiting for in the movie and TV industry for quite some time. As motion capture and CG technologies have improved, stars of the past can start appearing on screen again at whatever age we want them. Doesn't look like it's quite there yet with Jeff Bridges playing both his older and younger self, though its hard to tell from the trailer, but I'd say it's closing in.
If the technology progresses fast enough, I fully expect to see CG versions of the original Star Trek actors in additions to the old five year mission.
Totally looking forward to this movie too. Definitely a big screen experience.

3d, Imax or 3d imax?

yeah saw the trailer for this at the new potter (which imo barely qualifies a film more a trailer for the next one, not that i'm shocked) nearly creamed my pants right there, cant wait.

3d, Imax or 3d imax?
Anything worth doing is worth over-doing. IMAX 3D.

Watched a regular showing late lastnight - going to do imax when the uk stops paniccing at a bit of snow.
Story - so so. It sort of works but doesnt totally grab you.
Effects - FUCK YEAH BABY! Worth it alone.
Cast - Souless dead eyed program jeff Bridges is freaky, in a scary sort of way. Rest are ok, but nowt special. As with the 80's original its the effects that are the star.
Guys if you loved the original go and see this, its awesome just as an example of how far tech has progressed and the daft punk score is epic in cinema sound ;)

plans are to go see this on boxing day in 3D as a rest between drinking sessions.

Great music, good acting, average story.
Too many mooks in full face masks. Made the fight sequences harder to follow (or was I just tired?)
3D added nothing, in my opinion. There's too much dark space on the screen for it to be noticeable. Hollywood owes me £4 for wearing the stupid glasses and wondering if this would be the 3D movie to make my eyeballs explode.
I can't look for it from work, but after I watched the movie I went looking for the old Tron trailer on Youtube and I found that someone had created a trailer for the original Tron but done the way modern trailers are put together. It was quite good. I felt like watching the movie again.

agree with you taith mostly ,
soundtrack 10/ 10 awesome daft punk score carries a distinctly average plot and some average to poor acting for me michael sheen is too camped up and all the father son scenes / script are cringe worthy.
3d what 3d? no reason for this movie to be 3d at all in comparison to avatar this felt like a giant leap backwards. the bikes games and grid scenes are cool and perhaps slightly helped by my nostalgia for the original.
dont get me wrong I enjoyed it but without the soundtrack / score i think i would have been very dissapointed.
