Company of heroes online
« on: September 05, 2010, 02:47:31 PM »
Just wondering if anyone is playing this. It is currently in beta, but should be free to play once released. Its mainly just multiplayer with levels and rewards etc. But for those of you who have never played company of heroes. It includes all the missions (and storyline) of the original company of heroes. SO it might be fun to check.

LORD HELMET:  I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's
former roommate.

LONE STARR:  What's that make us?

LORD HELMET:  Absolutely nothing. Which is what you are
about to become. Prepare to die.

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Download client is a torrent like. So port forwarding should be set up correctly. That might help a bit.
And well it is slow. :D seen mine go at 400 kb/s max (newsgroups is 1400) and around 200 on average :D

but it is worth the wait imo :D

think it took me 9 hours to download :)

I went out to the park with my daughter, played a bit of Mount and Blade and prepared lunch and later dinner while downloading. SO it might have been 8 hours before i had it :D

From what I understand, the launcher sees your coh client and loads models, levels etc all from that, and just downloads what it needs to tto help with the Online stuff.
