Title: SoM is here
Post by: Jarkko on December 02, 2009, 05:25:27 PM
Codemasters did it again. SoM is here now, and I am not kidding you  :)

EDIT: Ok, seems that just the client has to be updated to get into game, but the servers are still running without SoM. Dang :(

Was about to post a similar topic, but figured I would check the CM forums first and see what i could find there.

Something weird going on though. I got two Mace of the Glutton drops from Tinnudir robbers (the level 33-35 ones), as I happened to kill four of them. That mace requires Honour rank 5, so not quite sure why it was dropping in Tinnudir...

Anyway, had to log off now, lots to do today and I have the damn early shift at work tomorrow.

So should i use the pre-patch now? Or not? Don't want to screw up my client, but dont want to download 1 Gig with my connection again...

start game at login screen point it to where you downloaded and wait, it will apply it ready for whatever patch we get tomorrow for localisation and quick bug squashes.

your pointing it to the exe file in the folder "LOTROEU_Mirkwood_Standalone_Patch_European"? and not just the folder?

afaik (from previous patches) hitting continue redownloads the patch.

you could always run the DL'd exe by itself.

Using Win 7 and it went ok for me, pointed it at the place my torrent had saved the exe and then it did its things all fine and dandy.

As I mentioned earlier in game, I think I'm using an incomplete file.

I know for sure I have the complete file on my home PC, so will give it a go when I get back.

Cheers for the input anyway guys.

Checked the game before getting to work this morning. There was a patch to download, the game proceeded to download it about half-way in a couple minutes, then got an 403 error (what ever that means). Anyway, looks like the patch for today isn't very big.

I hope the servers are up when I get home from work at 12 GMT, can't wait to check out the skirmishes :)

well the first part of skirmishes you have to go out into the game world and collect war orders for some reason i thought this was all handles in a instance oh well watch out gobbo's in dol dinen.

The very reason I parked in Tinnudir last night :) There are lots of gobbos and brigands around to get those orders from, as I expect extermination of baddies is the name of the game today :D

Damn :( Got the impression from the thread in Codie forum that brigands would do too :(  Hopefully the goblins in northern Evendim are not totally eviscerated by the time I get there...

maybe drop rate was not good on brigands for me :(

skirmishes are fun so far even on lvl they are challenging at the end decided on warrior ally to complement my minstrel.

just trained basic skills and now hording marks for a bit higher lvl.

only 2 skirmishes open to me at lvl 35 gondamon and weathertop but i can grind them for a while getting nice xp but i did have half a lvl rested.

Home now, the game is updating. Stupid firewall settings (I should have put the fw on DMZ before leaving to work :p) meant the last part of the patch hadn't downloaded, took about 10 seconds to download that, but the actual update process seems to take a good while...

First impression of skirmishes: I like them :)

really nice way of getting xp for those lvl's you seem to be stuck for viable quests.

i have so far after about 15 skirmishes.

1006-skirmish marks
13-first marks
18-footman's marks
11-veteran footman's marks

that was after giving my warrior some basic abilities and skills saving the rest for when more skirmishes open up to me.

Only briefly played round with skirmishes today. Really enjoy them! Though I got a work call halfway through my first proper one and died as I had to alt tab :(

the footmans and veteran footmans have no use but to swap for more skirmish marks ;)

so far skirmishes are awesome siege of gondamon being my favourite so far, non stop action :D

where do you trade them in for more skirmish marks i couldnt find where ?

I really like my bannerguard. He is stupid as a toilet seat, but at least he knows when to cast his heal, and he is pretty good at grabbing initial aggro (which means I get to hit from behind :) ).

I also wonder where the markers are traded in, would like to know that :)

all orcs, gobbos etc can drop em prob took me 25-30 kills to get 10 then 10 more kills to get the target list.

Sort of accidently ended up at the foot of Weatrhertop with Fitzer. Found out you can do Book 2 again, from chapter 4 and on.

Considering I had completed Book 2 on Fitzer about 20 levels ago, I suppose it is for everyone.
