A trip down Games Workshop lane
« on: December 27, 2009, 08:44:43 PM »
After many, many, many, many years of not painting or assembling my miniatures and lots of neglect, I decided to start selling off my GW stuff. Starting with my Eldar BFG a while ago. Today I took a big suitcase full of GW stuff home from my parents' attic. Oh the joy of travelling by public transport for three hours with 3 suitcases, a bag and an army case! I'm making another trip in two weeks time.

But damn, it's hard to sell the stuff when you start taking out your Dwarfs out of your army case! All the hopes and dreams I had for the little guys came back right away. Luckily a firm punch on the arm from the gf (it hurt, like seriously) fixed that problem.

I'll be taking pictures and slapping them online soon. Just in case there are any interested GW nuts around, this is a rough indication of the stuff I found:

Dwarfs: 40-60 old plastic warriors, 64 new plastic warriors, 32 new plastic thunderers, 30-35 metal ironbreakers, 20-25 metal miners, 10 classic metal bolt throwers, 1 classic stone thrower, 16 plastic warriors gone crossbowmen, loads of metal heroes, lords, special edition standard bearer (2nd version) from army deal, Bugman (from Notts), etc, etc. Should have 12 or so Longbeards somewhere as well. And a classic gyrocopter or two.

Halflings: A unit of Lumpin Croop's, several classic halfling models.

Blood Bowl: box set, halfling team, should have some humies somewhere.

Eldar: converted plastic wave serpent, 2ish Falcons, 1ish Prism tank, loads of classic rangers (it's an Alaitoc force), 10-15 new rangers, 3 or so new plastic walkers, a heavie platform, various Seer models, one or two wraithlords.

Black Templars: various Forgeworld items like BT terminator shields, BT brass symbol and icon sheet, purity seals and flat skulls. A unit of new plastic marines, might be command squad ones. Various metal figurines, original Emp Champ, 2nd version Emp Champ.

Khemri: I reckon there's two scorpions, an altar of souls or whatever it's called, and all the units from a small battleset box of Khemri.

I also found two sets of templates (flame, small blast, big blast), the crashed space ship and alien scenery from the 40k starter set and the old Wind of Magic box which is in good condition. The book cover has a crease in it, but the cards are mint. I'll also have an empty army case left. Some tools like clippers and a cutting mat. I also have piles of White Dwarf Magazine, quite a few Army Book and Codexes and a rather good quality copy of the original Stone and Steel, Dwarf RPG and fluff book.

Best thing is, apart from some dwarf bolt throwers and old plastic warriors, everything is mostly unassembled, unpainted, new on sprue, new in blister, etc.

In case anyone is interested, let me know here and I'll post a link to the website I'll be posting the pics on in a little while. I'm going to try and sell them off through friends, family and online buddies first, before I move to sites like Ebay and stuff.

I'm thinking of aiming for 70-80% of store prices for the stuff that is either new in blister or new on sprue. Do you reckon that's reasonable or am I shooting myself in the foot? So I'd sell new Dwarf warriors on sprue for 20 euros instead of the 30 they go for in the store. Or would you sell them for 25 or something?

If you are or if you know someone who's looking to start or expand their Dwarf non gunpowder, Eldar Alaitoc. Khemri army or a Halfling blood bowl team, give them a heads up! I'll be busy taking pics and uploading in January. I'm unemployed after the 11th anyway, so I'll have something to keep me busy.  :D :'(

PS: that's not the reason I'm selling the GW minis. I just decided to get rid of some stuff in my life! :P

Any and all tips for selling are welcome!
Daikini of the House Goat, the First of His Name, The Unmilked, Queen of the Meadow, The Chickens and the Pigs, Queen of the Field, Nibbler of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Wub, Lady Regent of the Seven Barns, Breaker of Fences and Mother of Ducklings.

I have some 2000 miniatures for GW games (of which about 800 are still un-painted). Haven't played GW games lately (the past few years) that much (except Blood Bowl, Necromunda, Space Marines, a few small WHFB games a year and WH40k very rarely). I paint very randomly, usually with my kids (who are painting their own BB teams and Warhammer warbands), maybe just 10-20 minis a month. My kids play with their friends mostly, but sometimes they want to spar with their daddy :)

I wouldn't even dream of selling my minis. I've been collecting them since 1984, why would I throw away most of my life?  ???

Anyway, if you are selling them, please let me know the price. With the IBAN and BIC system going in effect in all of euro area at the start of next year it will be easy to transfe the price to your account without any extra fees, if you are just willing to send the stuff over here :)

No worries. :)
I can't even remember how many times I've pledged to start converting, painting and playing. I had lots of fun for many years playing with friends, but they're just not going to be used anymore. I'm not just getting rid of them because the gf packs a punch.  ;)

I'm starting with pics and info on Dwarfs first in the next few days. I'll post a link when there's something to see. Shipping and payment shouldn't be an issue at all, unless you're stationed on a submarine.

is someone raising cash for nuptials?
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Ebays your best bet here dude. I'd also sell it off as seperate auction for each unit/character/warmachine. Always seems to be the best bet, and I've sold quite a bit of Warhammer this way in my time.

Heh... no wedding doo dahs anytime soon over here! Unless I accidentally knock up the gf.  ???
Obviously some extra cash is always welcome, but it's just gathering dust and right now it's really taking up a lot of space in our bedroom. And with the sister in law moving in with us we need all the space we have got.

I was afraid Ebay would be the way to go. I've put this stuff up at several places at - in my opinion - really low prices.
Bah... I'll try and motivate myself to figure out Ebay this week. Register with Staples tomorrow and get some boxes and box filler. At least I'll get a hell of a lot more money out of it selling individually, at least double in case of the Dwarves.

More Ebay tips are most appreciated! :)

I've started selling individual minis/units. Post above has been updated to reflect this.
Let me know if you'd like to have something or forward it to someone who might!
If I can't sell the stuff at these prices I'll fucking throw them in the ocean until they rust to shit. -_-

Oh em gee Ebaying all of that would be a proper biatch.
