Movies depicting the destruction of LA are always disappointing because I eventually have to go outside and witness that it is still there. =(

Kidding aside, I'll probably end up catching a matinee showing of this.

Disaster movie = script with little substance and over use of special effects.

Its a DVD movie for me not spending my £7 on a cinema ticket when "Harry Browns" at the cinema.
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

So I watched this last night (Free tickets ftw), its totally OTT, and as with Day after Tomorrow its science is sort of right, but on a movie timescale (ie 300000000 tmes faster than it would really occur).  But fuck me the effects are great, for an evenings entertainment were you can switch off your brain it totally does it for me.

Best part of the whole thing is Woody harrelsons character though ;)

As you said garry it is more suited to a dvd night with beers.

Almost went to watch this while working down in Bluewater on Tuesday night, but elected to watch episode 11 of Heroes season 4 and tool about in Lotro instead. Wireless in my hotel room ftw!

Doesn't sound like I missed a great deal.

So does the world just inexplicably end or does a many-armed Mayan blood god emerge from his thirty-eight thousand years of sleep and decide the rats have managed to take over the barn?

Basically earth heats up, earths crust shifts, lots of special effe - er environmental issues (the hippies wont like it as its not man caused) - and lots of people - except rich ones and the hero - die in hollywoods take on natural disasters.

Feh. You get so few opportunities in life to deploy a Mayan blood god.
