It seems they're merging events from the comic books, so they're happening at the same time instead of one after another.

Again, if you haven't read them yet, I highly recommend reading the comics. They're awesome. Especially with Michonne. And the governor.
Just read them. If only for the fact that Carl shoots Shane in issue 6.

So many awesome things in the comic books that are so not going to make it to the tv series because they're too gruesome.

Merle is doing it wrong, everybody knows that in case of loss of hand, replace with chainsaw not a silly knife ;)

Chainsaws are noisy and fuel is used for vehicles.

Surely you can just drink the fuel and it will run the chainsaw hand. Maybe mix it in with your coffee.
