Wait don't you remember the SARS, AIDS,Killer bee, BSE etc. etc. epidemics that destroyed civilisation?

Or modern day ppl either

1) demanding of the media (and government etc.) to warn them of every little danger there is (or else they'll sue you)
2) more willing to buy papers with flashy headlines and dramatic stories

or both  :D


Recently a book came out of a young Dutch philosopher and national newspaper columnist critically reviewing modern day society and especially the media. Very interesting read. He also addresses these sorts of 'hypes'.
Heavy bias towards Dutch media and society though, so doubt it will get translated.
