Slightly off topic, you getting an outfit together for PS2. Gonna be playing on NC side (as is Pidge). Also, not played the beta since before they opened up the second continent as I wanted to save it till launch. How is it progressing? It felt fairly stable when i was on it, I have to admit. Was impressed to say it was a beta

you dont need to do dailies. There is other stuff to do. the dailies basically there to give you more options if you dont want to just gear up in heroics. And every day most of the dailies are different and in different combinations too. It's not nearly as bad as the old TBC dailies, I have to admit. Some of them..dare I say it...are actually a lot of fun. It is a shame there are so many of them that it feels like thats all there is to do, but its not really the case. Ive been doing a lot of heroics. Dont need the gear, i just love the fights and the dungeons themselves

YO.

Been playing MoP since launch, and thought I'd share some opinions and give a little review. They're surprising!

I admit, I bought it in hope expecting it wouldn't be too much of a money sink. However, i'm impressed actually. It has none of the cute, chintsey, shitty atmosphere people were expecting. It's pretty dark. The pet battles are awesome, as are the scenarios (and the incoming brawlers guild looks good too). All serve as a nice addition to dungeons and there's always something to do whether it be solo playing or in groups.

Pandaria is truely an awesome continent! Lots of little vanilla-esque side things to do. For isntance I was flying about and saw a named elite lobster-man mob. Killed it, he dropped a weird use item and a parchment letter. the letter riddled at locations for other named lobster men. eventualyl found them, killed them, combined the items to get a meta item. followed another riddle to find a summoning locaton, killed the overlord for a blue fist weapon - Lobstmourne! Also little bits of lore items and trasures to find.

As for raids. Sadly i'm not overly impressed. they seem to favour short 6 boss raids with no depth. seems like gone are the days of getting immersed in tghe massive halls of Icecrown Citadel or corridoors of Kara etc etc. I still miss Ulduar :(

At lv90 there are lots of dailies. and i mean lots. Luckily, they all offer valor points and the rep itself allows you to buy more stuff with valour points. you dont necessrily need to do them, but can seem a bit overkill. I only do them on a weekend, and can find enough other stuff to do on en evening without needing to touch them. They serve a purpose. About it.

Professions are cool again. Overhaul to Archeology in the pandaria zone and it seems to offer more rewards now and is worth doing. Cooking is ace. you learn a sub cooking profession for your class/stat type now. you also plant your own mats (they take a day to grow) and the farming mini game is pretty cool. you can also grow crafting mats too aswell at the spirit motes (replacement for the motes of fire etc etc).

Dungeons are completely imemrsive and look fantastic. Theyve really gone all out on this. Especially Shadow Pan monastery. It's like the beginning of Batman Begins. Great stuff. theyve also tweaked the difficulty of heroics to make them more akin to WotLK than Cata, so it isnt full of twats calling each other 'tards' after few wipes.

the new talent system is very cool. It doesnt really feel dumbed down at all when playing. It is disappointing that all talents are assigned automatically (for me it feels like a bit of the RPG element has been taken away), but the talents are all completely situational and functional. you can switch them anytime you want too, so if your party needs a silence, you remove a CC talent from the same tree and replace it with a silence before a fight. It feels like every talent you chose is a decision and not just a cookie cutter thing.

Overall - it isn't perfect i admit, but the 'oh look pandas, pokemon and farmville' pre-judgers would be surprised. It definitely feels more like Wrath (maybe even TBC) than Cata and theyve put a lot of emphasis on giving players stuff to do when not raiding. The first content patch is incoming and it looks pretty good. So far I'm enjoying it and haven;t felt bored. Hopefully the faster rate of content patches Blizz have promised do deliver.

Merle is doing it wrong, everybody knows that in case of loss of hand, replace with chainsaw not a silly knife ;)

I completely disagree

I use IE9, but that's mainly because i'm not nerdy enough to be arsed to try others. Although I have given chrome and firefox a go recently, but theyre even slower and generally worse in my novice view. Never understood the browser hatred thing. You open it, and go to a website. Thats what it's meant to to, and that's what it does. Same with music players. You play music on them, they play music. Simple.

Oh god, Blink. The evil deity which took all my ISK. Won my Tengu from there, mind. Before losing it pretty much straight after.

It certainly has promise from the beta vids i've seen. The day/night cycle is jaw dropping.

Going back to Goatey's question, is it F2P 'Pay to Win', or is it just a set fee for the game then free as you can get? (a la BF3/that other shit one)

Ey up guys, long time. Hope all is good.

Me and Pidge have been completely blown away by the vids we've watched on PS2, and will definitely be cracking on with it on release (or hopefully before if we get in the beta). What's happening with you guys? Are there set 'Clans/Guilds' etc ingame? I know a few of you will be playing it, so would make sense to join up with you. And more importantly, what race are you gunning towards? I know you PSers are pretty devout when it comes to your blood  ;)

Quite expensive. £12 a month expensive (about 14 euros i guess). Shame if it puts you off. It is expensive, but If you don't mind paying for quality it's worth it.

Try TSW for yourself and then see what you think, dude.

We all knew SWTOR was a cookie cutter MMO with a different (albeit much more interesting) IP and a tonne of hype to fill even before launch. It did start off fatastic, the leveliing process the first time was top notch, but it falls into the traps. You level up, you do dailies. and so on. TSW has no levels, all of the game is endgame. It's as much of a 'Silent Hill' or a 'Left for Dead' or a 'Myst' than it is an MMO. If SWTOR pioneered the 'story driven' theme park MMO, then TSW has taken the model, improved on it, and stuck it into a much more semi-sandbox game.

Doesn't have that boxed in and sterile feeling you get from SWTOR. Compeltely different style of game.

Fair enough. It's a shame though, I honestly think this could be the most important MMO ever made providing it gets the deserved TLC by Funcom.

I think I might be giving PS2 a go anyway. Seen some top notch vids

I'm on Huldra, but server does not matter apart from doing Fusang PVP. You can group up cross server to do content.

Jon, Fusang is a massive pvp area. Persistent (drop in drop out), 3 faction, 60 a side to take and hold 5 facilitites. The number of facilities you hold/own in Fusang (as well as the other 2 smaller PVP zones) determines on how awesome the buff your faction gets outside in PVE. Illuminati wears blue, so haflway there :p Also, at the end of the gaming week when they take servers down for maintenence, the devs look at who held what for longest and give an overall reward for who won that week.

Planetside 2 looks good if you want a bit of simplistic pedal to the metal shooting. This is something to captivate you in a completely different way.

I've re-teamed up with Pandion Knights as Illumunati and primarily gone for blade/hammer tank and dps, but filled inner trees for fist/blood healing too. I'm mixing and matching too. Getting to the last set of missions in kingsmouth now, and hoping to give Polaris a go. Good thing is that you can group up cross faction for dungeons/missions etc, so makes finding groups so much easier. And you only need to look for 'others' rather than looking for a 'tank' 'dps' or 'healer'. Full of win. You guys who arent bothering are missing out.

I think the fact this game has slipped under the radar a little, and not brought on massive expectation, exposure and hype (as what you get with the usual AAA cookie cuter MMOs) has really given Funcom a lot of breathing room to just try something different and do it their way. They've thrived on it, bigtime! They deserve all the kudos in the MMO world for this game.

Well...

It's stunning. Take all the MMO's you've ever played and completely forget everything about them. TSW has pretty much taken the MMO rulebook and thrown it on the fire and broken all ties with the norm. And it's about fucking time somebody did, as this is just something else. Reading stuff on here, I know a lot of you have the MMO burnout, and some are ummin and ah-ing....but I guarantee this will take you by the short and curlies and fist fuck you into total immersion.

Levelling up a toon on a WoW PVP server with pidge for shits and giggles, The Secret World out on Friday, will be playing that too. Apart from that, a bit of this a bit of that. Few console games, a few steam games, and my sizeable penis.
